𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 The risks involved with making decisions based on assumptions can be costly. Bridging the gap between what you think and what you know is the goal of a solid information gathering process. Market research can provide the clarity and confidence needed to move forward. How can you tell if you don’t have a full picture? Pay attention to patterns of uncertainty in your decision-making. Do you find yourself hesitating or making “best guesses” when planning? Are your team’s strategies built on assumptions rather than facts? Have your planning meetings involved reviewing any industry and consumer data? If any of these questions hit too close to home, it’s time to uncover what’s missing. Market research is all about asking the right questions and gathering only the information that matters to your goals. With the right insights, you can minimize risks, maximize opportunities, and make decisions that drive growth. Hope is not the right strategy. Following the debrief with a debrief - thoughts? Definitely agency side, sometimes even client side. Imagine the research process is at its conclusion. You've crafted the story, delivered the findings and even made some recommendations from what the data is telling you (or at least prompts and questions for the client) But then what? Lots of interest, pleasantries and thanks exchanged. And then??? Did the insights get used? What decisions were made off the back of it? Was it just interesting? Following up a month later to understand the impact could be key. What actions were taken and if no action, why? A great piece of research should have lasting impact. Should there be a follow up? Or does the responsibility for action just fall on the end client? #insights #impact #anotherdebrief

The Art of Asking Questions series 23ofn Investigative questions peel back layers to discover insights that aren’t immediately visible. The biggest pitfall? Not probing deeply enough. In the pursuit of understanding, it’s easy to stop at the surface. But real value lies in probing further, challenging initial answers, and uncovering layers of information that aren’t immediately apparent. Mastering the art of going deeper with your questions can reveal insights that others miss and lead to breakthroughs in thought and strategy. Don’t settle for the obvious—ask the next question, and then the one after that. Working on this maxim with "Strategy" as in business: When it comes to strategy, digging deeper with investigative questions can uncover insights that lead to real breakthroughs. Here’s how you can apply four layers of progressive questioning: Surface Question: What is our current strategy? Typical Answer: Our strategy is to increase market share by 10% this year. First Layer: Why is increasing market share our primary focus? Deeper Insight: We believe that greater market share will improve our brand’s visibility and long-term profitability. Second Layer: What challenges might we face in achieving this market share goal? Deeper Insight: We might face intense competition, pricing pressures, and potential market saturation. Third Layer: How can we differentiate ourselves from competitors to overcome these challenges? Deeper Insight: We could focus on innovation, customer experience, and expanding into underserved markets. Fourth Layer: What resources and capabilities do we need to effectively implement this differentiation strategy? Deeper Insight: We need to invest in R&D, upskill our team, and enhance our digital marketing efforts. Each layer of questioning helps peel back another layer of understanding, leading to a more robust and actionable strategy. Don’t stop at the first answer—keep digging. Brand Valuation and Running Profit lies beneath at the deeper surface. #ArtOfAskingQuestions #StrategicThinking #DeepInquiry #BusinessStrategy #CriticalThinking #InvestigativeQuestions #GoDeeper
