Embarking on an apprenticeship is more than just acquiring new skills; it's also a voyage into the depths of their potential. 🌟 That is why it is so important to capture the motivations of each apprentice at the start, as a reminder for them during some of the more challenging moments. 🌟 Investing in the Future: The Power of Work Placements and Apprenticeships 🌟 Reflecting on my own journey, I started as a work experience placement right out of university in 2016. That opportunity was a game-changer, setting the foundation for my career growth and success. Fast forward to today, I'm thrilled to share that so far this year we have three incredible work placements learning the ropes with us. Whilst everyone else is enjoying their summer off Uni, Max Lane is grafting at BA HQ gaining some valuable experience. Exactly what I did! Our digital marketing apprentice, Ava Smith, continues to grow into her next stage of development and has become a key part of the marketing function. Starting next week, we have Safah, our latest apprentice recruit, who we can't wait to welcome to the group. Shout out to Phil Kimber for all his support for Ava and Safah. My apprentice is now exploring additional ways for our business to engage our target audience through social media. A valuable insight he discovered is that certain London Underground lines now offer mobile signal, meaning passengers will spend more time connected while traveling📱 This opens up new opportunities to engage with content. 🚀 Let's be real, hiring young people isn't always smooth sailing, but daily communication is absolutely key. It's all about keeping focus on the right attitudes and behaviours. We have kick-off and kick-down meetings every day to realign with our company vision and emphasise the importance of teamwork and process. Here's a quick clip from Pierre's meeting this morning! Our young people have already sourced Apprenticeship vacancies worth £30,000 and have a potential pipeline worth three times that— all through good old-fashioned cold calling! Meanwhile, our content team has created a company theme tune and is driving recruitment with trend-setting videos on TikTok and Instagram. The recruitment team has confirmed 160 young people will be attending our offices to learn more about our Apprenticeship programme, as well as signing up for our NEET, Adult, and Bootcamp offers. The benefits of this work experience have far outweighed the challenges, and I’ve woken up excited every morning to see these young people thrive. Some will be offered jobs with us, while others are choosing university, college, or sixth form. One confident individual (Junior) even secured his dream apprenticeship through cold calling—nothing beats selling yourself! Huge thanks to all the companies who've supported us— from Bullhorn to C2C, Nike, Bloomberg, and more!
