💭 Another thoughtful workshop hosted by Edward De La Torre, Ed.D! Students from BRDG and CSUF had the opportunity to dive deeper into two crucial workforce traits: critical thinking and problem solving. Throughout the workshop, students got to practice these important skills through engaging activities and discussions. What did we find? 🚧 💡 Critical thinking is essential for decision-making, while creativity fuels problem solving! 👀 Our decision-making process and ideas are linked to our unique perceptions, shaped by our individual experiences and guided by how we interpret our sensations. 🧠 Decision-making is a combination of our cognition, personality, and emotions. Although critical thinking and problem solving continue to be highly valued individual skills, using these skills in a team setting is just as important. Keep developing these skills through practice, and see how you can benefit from it! 🚀 Thank you to Edward for helping students learn about these essential traits in the workforce as they go through their professional journeys! 🙏 Additionally, thank you to Bill Gervasi and Jay Kramer for joining us during this workshop! My journey into the realm of emotional intelligence began unexpectedly, stemming from the bureaucratic roadblocks that hindered my initial dissertation project. At the suggestion of my boss and mentor, I delved into the world of emotional intelligence, a concept I was admittedly unfamiliar with at the time. Taking the assessment was a revelation. Its uncanny accuracy left me utterly convinced, hook, line, and sinker. Suddenly, my actions and behaviors, once shrouded in confusion, began to make perfect sense. Yet, it also shed light on areas where I needed to improve—a humbling realization. Choosing emotional intelligence as the focus of my dissertation felt like a natural progression. Utilizing the EQ-i 2.0 for Higher Education, I embarked on a journey with 200 students, uncovering invaluable insights that not only enriched my academic endeavors but also empowered those I had the privilege of coaching. Upon completing my coursework and dissertation, I proudly walked across the graduation stage. Shortly thereafter, fueled by my passion for emotional intelligence, I established my own consulting business, extending my expertise beyond the realm of higher education. Becoming a national training partner of Multi-Health Systems, Inc., the company that houses the EQ-i 2.0, marked a pivotal milestone in my journey. Since then, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of this assessment on countless individuals. Driven by a fervent desire to cultivate emotional intelligence on a global scale, I remain dedicated to my mission—increasing emotional intelligence one person at a time. Together, we can shape a world that embraces the power of emotional intelligence, fostering growth, resilience, and harmony. #EQRevelation #EQInsights #EQConsulting #EmotionalIntelligenceImpact #EQLeadership #EmotionalResilience #EQAdvocate #GlobalEQMovement

Just finished the course “Improving Your Thinking” by Madecraft and Alyssa Lowery! Alyssa Lowery’s course on improving your thinking is an invaluable guide for anyone looking to elevate their intellectual abilities and apply those skills in everyday life. As a philosophy instructor, Alyssa breaks down the abstract concept of "thinking" into actionable steps, showing how becoming a better thinker can lead to tangible benefits like stronger relationships, career advancements, and better emotional intelligence. The course covers essential strategies for navigating complex ideas, avoiding common reasoning errors, and developing intellectual humility. I particularly appreciated how Alyssa emphasizes that thinking isn't just a solitary activity—it’s something enriched by conversation and collaboration with others. By the end, you’ll gain practical tools and insights that will take your critical thinking and problem-solving skills to the next level, both in your personal and professional life. #BNIUniversity #BUMNLearningFestival #BLF-BNI Check it out: https://lnkd.in/g77kxwTY #braintraining #criticalthinking.

Building up habits and creating healthy behaviours is not easy. It takes about three weeks to get an action into the blood - so to say - and become a habit. And especially the intrapersonal ones are usually mutually dependent; the one who wants to change a behaviour, and the one receiving the change. But it's worthy of the hard work; it improves the human relationships, improves the communication speed and cultivates immensely human touch. I started during my holidays to improve based on the following certification by the University of Michigan: Cultivating Immensely Human Interactions. https://lnkd.in/eks_8EXS

"𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸." "𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹." Are you curious what the collective responses are to these statements? Google these phrases! It may be fascinating to note the perspectives you'll find - is the environment the problem/solution or is the human the problem/solution? Does it depend on the age of the human (work is typically adults and schooling typically younger)? For anyone (and everyone) who struggles personally or via their friends and family with either (and both) of these experiences, may I be a voice lovingly proclaiming, "𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮". 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳'𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘶𝘭𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮. Why don't they just suck it up and fit into the conventionally defined worlds of education and business? It is not the truth. I am working to expand respectfully curious dialogues for those wrestling with the "shoulds" of schooling and working and to find what's best for you and your loved ones. Last year, dozens of relentless Continuous Improvement practitioners came together to BE in a non-judgmental space and wonder again like children. This summer, I'd invite you to wonder again, to feel whole, to listen to yourself, and to be curious about schooling and about working. Humans have created these worlds. Let's make sure they really serve us. Please feel invited to note in the comments and/or get in touch with me directly if you're curious about said spaces. #theotherci #thecountermeasures #criticalthinking #deming #tps #management #leadership #learning #school #work #unconventional #consciousparenting #consciousleadership #education #sudbury #reimagine #lean #excellence #respectforpeople #futureofeducation #futureofwork
