The best part is that neither of them had a business background, they graduated from a design school. Spoiler Alert: They almost failed trying to survive Imagine the confidence you would need to say words like that and actually pull it off. AirBnB is currently valued at almost $100 Billion.

One of the most iconic growth hacks of all time and what we learned: Airbnb Problem: Acquisition Airbnb faced a chicken or the egg problem. Initially they manually invited people to the platform. This was tedious but worked. Unfortunately, it was not scalable. Then they cleverly leveraged craigslist to get new hosts for the platform. A bot easily allowed cross posting in 1 click. Lessons: 1. Some stories really do inspire… I got this email through today about difficult times for Airbnb in 2008 and the lack of interest in what they were developing. As someone on a journey who is currently working to turn my pain into purpose and deliver a tech solution, this was what I needed today. We will always find challenges and people who do not believe and in such times you can do one of two things… 1. Take their belief 2. Give them yours If we take their belief and self doubt and stop and pivot, we may never get to where we could of.
