Damon Stapleton and I wrote about creativity and thought we should write a review. I am glad I read it! Learnt so much!! "In Keep Shooting Until You See the Fckers Smoke": Ammunition for Creatives*, Damon Stapleton emphasizes the indispensable role of genuine passion in the creative process. Echoing Steve Jobs' sentiment that "you can teach people anything except to care," Stapleton highlights that talent alone is insufficient without a deep commitment to one's ideas. He illustrates this through the example of David Abbott, a legendary advertising executive, who believed that ideas either fade into obscurity or transform into magic, depending on the care invested in them. He contends that in an era where artificial intelligence can churn out countless ideas, the true value lies in nurturing a select few with dedication and craftsmanship. By focusing on quality over quantity, creatives can achieve more impactful outcomes, proving that meticulously developing one or two exceptional concepts is far more powerful than amassing hundreds of mediocre ones. This book compellingly reminds us of the importance of personal investment in creative work. It advocates for discernment and dedication to ensure that quality always triumphs over compromise. What does an idea look like? I love going to the library. I get a lot of inspiration from the library as well as I find lots of fun books. Last time I went to the library I found a neat book: The Shape of Ideas: An Illustrated Exploration of Creativity Hardcover by Grant Snider. It made me think about what an idea looks like. We often use a light bulb, a drawing of a brain, or a thought bubble to illustrate the concept of an idea. So, what do you think? What does an idea look like? Comment below.

What I love about marketing is how it applies to everyday life - especially in understanding human behavior to navigate life's challenges. ⛰️ One of my favorite books, "The Design of Everyday Things,” emphasizes the importance of factoring in human psychology and human nature into everyday interactions. Including how we interact with one another and how we do business. The more we factor in human psychology and our natural behaviors into the decisions we make, the better results we’ll get. Staying inspired and thinking outside the box is crucial. One of my go-to sources for creative inspiration is the book "Steal Like an Artist" by Austin Kleon. This book beautifully encapsulates the idea that creativity isn't about being completely original but about remixing existing ideas in new and unique ways. Kleon's advice to embrace influence and let your curiosity guide you has profoundly impacted how I approach my projects. Whenever I feel stuck or need a burst of creativity, I revisit this book. It reminds me that inspiration can come from anywhere, and often the best ideas are sparked by the simplest things.... also helps my eyes take break from screen for a while.. 😌 I also find inspiration in everyday experiences. Whether it's a walk in nature, a conversation with a friend, or even a moment of quiet reflection, these instances help me see the world from different perspectives and fuel my creative process. What about you? What inspires your creativity and helps you stay innovative? Share your sources of inspiration in the comments – I'd love to hear about what fuels your creative fire! #CreativeInspiration #Innovation #Creativity #CreativeDirector #DigitalMarketing
