Building on The Lancet Psychiatry's Commission on transforming mental health implementation research, I am pleased to share our latest correspondence discussing de-implementation to reduce coercive practices in mental health care. Led by PhD student Sophie Sergerie-Richard, co-supervised with Marie-Hélène Goulet, this article underscores the urgent need to leverage implementation science methods to de-implement coercive practices such as seclusion and restraint. We highlight the necessity of designing, developing, and evaluating tailored, equity-focused de-implementation strategies. " exposes how the topic of “madness” in the face of brain diseases in women has developed and evolved. From the level of disciplines such as psychiatry and psychology but also, analyzing it from a gender perspective, women have historically been described as “mentally inferior”, “crazy” or “mentally insane”, as a consequence of an existing patriarchy in Medicine. It is interesting to delve into this topic, for a more in-depth investigation. Part 1: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) significantly impact lifelong health and well-being. Despite extensive research, a comprehensive understanding of ACEs' multifaceted impacts continues to be challenging to achieve. This study synthesizes meta-analytic evidence to provide a comprehensive view of ACEs' effects, addressing various approaches to conceptualizing ACEs and their diverse outcomes. Employing an umbrella synthesis methodology, this review integrated findings from 99 meta-analyses involving 592 effect sizes. We examined ACEs through specificity, lumping, dimensional, and child maltreatment-centric approaches, assessing their impact across six domains: biological system dysregulation, neuropsychological impairments, physical health complications, mental health conditions, social and behavioral challenges, and criminal justice involvement.
