Is "designer produce” just another frivolous trend for consumers with extra cash to spend, or will the future of the produce aisle evolve to embrace the flavor revolution?     This article from The Wall Street Journal suggests the latter, as #consumers have begun shifting their #grocery preferences away from produce bred for long shelf life and toward products cultivated with taste and overall experience in mind, such as Oishii’s Omakase Strawberry, which retails for around $12 per package of six.    What do you think?

It'll be interesting to see what areas and more specifically what retailers adopt this trend. Will it flow into everyday grocers like Walmart or will it stay a niche grab for those that frequent the likes of Wholefoods, Sprouts, Fresh Market, etc.
