Do you know how to conference like a pro? Next week I am presenting at the AICPA FVS conference in Dallas. It reminds me that "conference season" is in full swing. Going to a conference is a major undertaking if time and effort. More so if you do it wrong and don’t get anything out of it. I have one particular pet peeve when I'm attending conferences: speakers who turn their back on the audience. However, I realise that some conferences don't provide a floor screen or at least a place to put the laptop the speaker is presenting of off. That is setting your speakers up for fail. It has nothing to do with lack of speaker preparation, although yes, making it easier for a speaker to get a visual queue for what's next will improve their performance. But more importantly, a speaker needs to check the slide they think is next is actually showing because if you've done this a few times, you know that's not something you can bank on blindly. Please, conference organisers, don't to this. Don't force your speakers to turn their backs on the audience. #conferencespeaker #conference #conferences2024 #conferenceseason
