It’s disappointing to see such kind of brand marketing in Hong Kong 🇭🇰. Whether it’s the agency that created it or the marketer who approved it, they need to learn more about sportsmanship. Pizza Hut’s playful taunt towards Italy by offering free pineapple toppings to celebrate our fencer's Olympic victory may have been intended to honor Hong Kong's achievements, but such actions can undermine Hong Kong’s sportsmanship and respect for competitors and other countries. Taunting another nation, especially in a context where emotions run high, risks fostering negativity and divisiveness. Instead of celebrating victories through mockery, why not we embrace humility and honor the spirit of all sports. True sportsmanship is about recognizing the efforts of all athletes, regardless of the outcome. Rather than taunting competitors, we should focus on self-improvement and lifting others up when we have the ability. Leaders and entrepreneurs, take this as a lesson. When you are at the top, be humble and help others rise. Don’t belittle others. #Respect #Honour #Sportsmanship

I do think it is targeted due to the comments the Italian side is making, trying to state that Edgar's win is illegitimate and that referees that were selected were from nearby countries making them biased (South Korea and Taipei). Italian fencing association has been acting entitled to the win. Pizza Hut made a fun playful jab at the Italian side using a fun meme about pineapple on pizza, and it is a common joke, and I fail to see how even Italians in hong kong would perceive this as offensive. Additionally Pineapple slices look like gold medals. I trust if Italy was more sportsmanlike, the jokes about this would not erupt.

This is exactly the issue nowadays. To create content people just make lengthy posts without having a complete understanding of the issue.

I will have to disagree. The disrespect actually come from the Italian side. I think many HK Chinese reacted when the Olympics committee in Italy and the Italian coach said the following: the Hk fencer robbed their title, it is a disgrace and it is unfair because the referees are from neighbouring Asian countries.

Can't agree more it made no sense in my books.
