Michael LaSalle Stories 12.08.24 : My Life In Song 1988—Man In The Mirror My life in 1988 was consumed by my wife, my three sons, my Church and my Master's Degree courses. I loved every part of my life. Elizabeth was great. My kids were growing up and we spent a lot of time together. I wrote songs for my Church and once a month I had the main program at The Lodge. I was also doing Energy Studies and Energy Maintenance during this time. I have no idea how I was able to juggle all of these lives but I did. This is when I had the Revelation that one human being could live many simultaneous lives. My rhetoric classes helped me understand what was happening to me when I learned about Idealism, Deconstructionism and Postmodernism. ————— IDEALISM I studied Plato's Dialogues. They maintained that the physical world is just a metaphor for the Ideal World, which exists beyond Time and Space and is the perfect mirror of the flawed physical world. DECONSTRUCTIONISM I studied the work of Jacques Derrida, the father of Deconstruction. He taught the dismantling of writing, literature and philosophy. He taught that the foundations we've built society on are ever changing and necessarily so. POSTMODERNISM I studied the work of Richard Rorty who developed the concept of the Ironist. An Ironist is a person who is defined by her vocabulary. She realizes that her vocabulary is contingent on the times she lives in. That is why we must always be open to new ways of solving old problems. ————— I saw these three approaches to understanding what we call REALITY as similar because all three posited the evolution of a better civilization. I also realized that these approaches touched me personally as a Sentient Human Being capable of Reinvention. I had already reinvented myself over 1,000 times and probably 10 times that. The song from 1988 that spoke most directly to me was Man In The Mirror by Michael Jackson... #kevinstories https://lnkd.in/gvfnEBKX

#WordsofWisdom Imagine a world where, instead of increasing conflict and polarisation, respect for difference and lasting peace was the norm. As #innovators and #entrepreneurs how are we building #respectfordifference into our technologies, products and businesses? Imagine if #peace was a design parameter...part of the value proposition. Something to think about .....

In a metaphorical interpretation, Draco #Malfoy embodies the manipulative traits of Tom Riddle, known for his megalomaniacal desires for power and control. In this scenario, Draco might engage in metagaming, strategically manipulating Emma Hermione's speech at the United Nations for his own agenda, much like how Riddle masterfully manipulated situations to further his ambitions. Emma Hermione, being manipulated by Draco's schemes, finds herself in a situation reminiscent of Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Like Belle, Hermione may initially be charmed or deceived by Draco's facade of sophistication and influence. However, just as Belle eventually sees through the Beast's outer appearance to his true nature, Hermione must come to recognize Draco's manipulative intentions. The mention of mandrake root (mandragora) from the #HarryPotter series adds a magical element to the metaphor, symbolizing the insidious nature of manipulation and control. Much like the mandrake root's ability to influence those who come into contact with it, Draco's manipulation of Hermione's speech exerts a subtle yet potent influence over her. The reference to Potter and Ginny having a "Bill Clinton tree" introduces a political dimension to the metaphor, suggesting a complex web of power dynamics and potential scandal. This could represent the broader context in which Hermione's speech takes place, where political maneuvering and personal agendas intersect. Overall, this metaphorical scenario illustrates Hermione's struggle against manipulation and deception, as she navigates a world where appearances can be deceiving and power can corrupt. Like Belle, she must ultimately rely on her intelligence, integrity, and inner strength to resist the allure of manipulation and stay true to herself.
