There’s a local bagel shop that kills it. Line out the door, closes up shop by 2pm. The product’s great. Soft and chewy, crispy exterior. But there’s at least 5 other bagel shops in the area. In fact, some are more convenient by proximity. What’s the difference? Every time I walk in with my daughters, the workers smile and hand a mini bagel to each of them, free of charge. A little thing to them, but a big thing to me. Lesson: Give bagels, product/service equivalent, to your customers. Or just bagels. Who doesn’t like bagels? #HappyFriday

You cannot be a parent of a Gen-Zer and not have spent more time in front of a Jelly cat fixture or on their brilliant website than you should (https://lnkd.in/emmd8w4u). Love a Jellycat. You can spot one a mile off. The Firecracker has so many Jelly Cats that I am convinced the "Jellies" mate under the cover of darkness as our household population of adorable Jelly cats continues to grow exponentially. This Jelly succulent sits on her bed and is my current favourite. So this story in the press caught my eye: https://lnkd.in/eTkAU5ZK (echoing one in February https://lnkd.in/eRvDu39R) ""Soft Toy Giant Jellycat Accuses Aldi Of Ripping Off Its Popular £27 Design With A £4 Alternative" ... of one of its most popular designs. In court documents, Jellycat said Aldi had a “propensity to infringe registered designs”, following other rows, including M&S objecting to their lookalike Colin the Caterpillar cake.". Aldi is not the only one who does this: in the aisles of its rival Lidl, Danpak is sold in lieu of Lurpak and Neo biscuits instead of Oreo. Read "How do Aldi and Lidl’s own-brand lookalikes get away with it?' by Louise Eccles in The Times from March this year. Picture: 👉🏻Right-hand-side Dexter, a blue-and-maroon dragon Jelly, made by Jellycat. 👈🏻Not a Jelly. But spookily similar to Dexter. ____ #TheCPGGeek #IBMRetail #IBMConsumer #FMCG #ConsumerGoods #Retail #RethinkRetail Proud to be a #RethinkRetailTopExpert RETHINK Retail

🎃🍬 Why Your Halloween Candy Might Not Arrive On Time: The Supply Chain Spooks to Watch Out For 🚛🍭 Halloween is fast approaching, and while supply chains are rushing to get all that candy delivered, you might face some empty shelves. Here are some common reasons your Halloween treats could be delayed this season: Labor Shortages Across Logistics: From truck drivers to warehouse workers, ongoing labor shortages across the logistics sector are stretching supply chains thin. Fewer drivers on the road mean slower deliveries, and without enough warehouse workers, your candy may spend extra time sitting in a distribution center instead of heading to your local store. Surge in E-commerce: The explosion of online shopping continues to put additional pressure on distribution networks. With more people turning to online orders for Halloween costumes and candy, delivery networks are at full capacity. This surge can lead to delayed or missed shipments as companies prioritize urgent or high-value goods. Last-Mile Delivery Issues: Last-mile delivery is often the trickiest part of logistics. Traffic congestion, limited delivery windows, and high demand can create significant delays, especially in urban areas. With drivers trying to meet tight deadlines, last-mile bottlenecks could cause your candy to miss its intended delivery date. Inconsistent Inventory Management: Candy manufacturers and retailers rely on demand forecasting to ensure the right amount of product reaches stores in time for Halloween. But demand fluctuations or inaccurate predictions can lead to inventory imbalances, leaving some areas overstocked while others face shortages. What Can You Do to Plan Ahead? Some of the common practices used with large shipping manufacturers can be used for your favorite candy needs. 💰 Buy early to avoid the last-minute rush. (Ship sooner) 🏭 Look for alternative brands or local suppliers that may have quicker access to stock. (Consider multiple providers) Stay flexible with your candy options in case your go-to favorite isn’t available this year. (Flexible ship dates) While these supply chain challenges are no treat, planning ahead can help you avoid disappointment when Halloween rolls around. 🎃 What’s your strategy for keeping logistics smooth during peak seasons? Share your tips below! 👇 #SupplyChain #HalloweenLogistics #CandyDelivery #LogisticsChallenges #EcommerceSurge #LastMileDelivery #LaborShortages #InventoryManagement #Candy #SweetSupplyChain

Nestle Good for you, Good for the planet? While the partnership between Nestle and Krispy Kreme to create limited edition doughnuts may be appealing in terms of taste and convenience, it's essential to critically assess its broader implications for both individual health and environmental sustainability. 1. **Health Considerations:** While indulging in sweet treats occasionally can be enjoyable, promoting the consumption of sugary snacks like these limited edition doughnuts may contribute to unhealthy dietary habits and potential negative health outcomes, such as obesity and dental issues. It's crucial for individuals to balance indulgence with overall nutritional intake and consider moderation in their consumption of such products. 2. **Environmental Impact:** Nestle's involvement in this partnership raises concerns regarding its overall environmental impact, given the company's track record of unsustainable practices, such as water extraction and packaging waste. Additionally, the production and distribution of processed food items like doughnuts often entail significant resource consumption and contribute to carbon emissions and waste generation along the supply chain. 3. **Sustainable Alternatives:** Instead of promoting the consumption of heavily processed and packaged products, companies like Nestle and Krispy Kreme could explore more sustainable alternatives, such as offering healthier doughnut options made with organic ingredients or incorporating eco-friendly packaging solutions to reduce environmental harm. 4. **Corporate Responsibility:** As major players in the food industry, Nestle and Krispy Kreme have a responsibility to prioritize the health and well-being of consumers while minimizing their environmental footprint. This includes transparently disclosing nutritional information, sourcing ingredients responsibly, and actively engaging in sustainable practices throughout their operations. In summary, while the collaboration between Nestle and Krispy Kreme may offer temporary enjoyment for consumers, it's important to consider the long-term implications for both individual health and environmental sustainability. Encouraging responsible consumption and advocating for healthier, more sustainable food choices can ultimately benefit both people and the planet.

Merch - I'm just back from 2+ weeks in the US. I'm still amazed every time by the amount of branded merch for sale. Literally every single coffee shop, restaurant, retail outlet all have their own range of branded merchandise. Can you imagine that here in the UK? Walking into your local coffee shop and a whole wall covered in t-shirts, mugs, caps etc with their logo on for sale? I get Disney and the main attractions etc selling all their branded items but I'm amazed every time I see it. Have you ever succumbed to a branded item from an independent shop? My wife seems to collect Starbucks cups from different countries (and US States!). I mean, having that here in the UK would be great for us in terms of supply but can't imagine we'd get the same response from potential purchasers. What do you think?

The holiday rush is in full swing, and 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁. 🎁 They spot 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 product. The packaging? Of course, it’s irresistible - 𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 that gleams, 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 that add a touch of elegance, and 𝗳𝗼𝗶𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 like the festive season itself. 🌟🎄 Because let’s be real: no one’s picking up something that looks dull and forgettable, especially during this time of year. Your packaging is the ⭐ star of the shelf, isn't it? 👀 At Masterpack Cape, 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀. 🎇 💫 🤩 If you’re an elf on the shelf, listen closely. You’ll hear them say, “𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚.” 💎 (If you don’t, Boney M is probably to blame. Pa rum pum pum pum.) #packaging #gifts #holidays #printedpackaging #embellishments #sales

Headed to the freezer section to grab some ice cream while shopping over the long weekend. Now I know that freezer sections can be hard to look after in retail, I’ve been that schoolkid stocking the shelves (badly), but you don’t expect to open the door and be greeted by what looks like an artic expedition gone wrong. To me this just highlighted that no matter how good your product is, how great the brand and packaging, how sharp your pricing and promotional plan it really can all mean nothing without great on shelf execution. All that tireless work to get your product on the shelf and in front of customers undone at the last hurdle. Investing in and nailing your retail execution is still crucial to a products success for a few simple reasons: 1. Visibility: Foundation of everything. If they can't see it, they can't buy it……..and that goes for price tickets as well. 2. Accessibility: Easy to find and easy to access means quick grabs and happy customers. No one wants a battle to locate and get their dessert. 3. First Impressions: A good looking, easy to shop display invites purchases. A frozen-over mess? Not so much. What would you add to this list? #RetailExecution #InStoreStandards #IceCreamFails #CustomerExperience #Crossmark #DKSHSmollan #Salesteamproviders
