Just hosted a great session on UK start up valuations for the amazing female founders 2024 cohort at Tramshed Tech. What can be a sensitive subject! I was, once again, amazed at the founders who asked some pretty technical questions after. If anyone here wants to chart valuations (for fundraising, EMI, Growth shares, and so on) just comment below or reach out! We managed to cover why a reasonable valuation protects your equity, why raising money ISN'T the goal (it's a tool to get to a goal) and what valuation methods you might consider depending on your stage of start up. Here are some phases I got to discuss that rarely come up, I wonder how many people are familiar with them? "a golden share", "1 x liquidation preference", "illiquidity discount".
