This principle of Buffett's (also called his Noah Rule) can apply to any area in our lives. It's especially important when thinking about the relationship between budgeting and an emergency fund (or "rainy day fund", going along with the analogy!) Many people have the intention to build up savings for the unexpected events life can bring, but relatively few end up following through. But what good is a budget if you don't stick with it? And what good is the intention to build up an emergency fund if you don't have any funds in it by the time you need to use it? The lesson: we can't just predict and plan for the future; we need to prepare for it. #planehead #emergencyfund #rainydayfund #warrenbuffett #noahrule https://lnkd.in/e6gZiK42

Emergency fund… do you have one? 🐷 My conversations tend to involve having an emergency fund, prior to investing for the long term. Who knows when your car might breakdown, or you book that well deserved holiday… so this is where an emergency fund becomes crucial. But what’s the right amount I hear you ask! Well… there is no right or wrong amount, but I tend to suggest keeping between 3-6 months of outgoings in an instant access savings account. For example, if your monthly soemding is £2,000, then an amount of £6,000-£12,000 ticks this box ✅ Looking to see what’s right for you? I’m always happy to chat over a coffee ☕️ #wednesdaywisdom #emergencyfund #savings #piggybank

Life is full of unexpected events! 👉 While we can't plan for them, we can prepare. A big part of what we do is ensuring you have the peace of mind that you're financially secure. An emergency fund is your safety net, helping cushion the fall of these unforeseen events 😅 So, start allocating 3-6 months worth of living expenses in a separate account 💸 Have you got an emergency fund? . . #emergencyfunds #financialsecurity #financialfreedom #financialplanning #financialadvisor
