We are celebrating World Environment Week, a crucial period to reinforce awareness and motivate actions that promote care for our planet. In this special moment, it is essential to remember how each of us can contribute to environmental preservation and sustainable development.
For those who are just joining us, I'll summarize a bit how I've dedicated my entire life to all of this. Since the founding of ProNatura in 1985, my path has been guided by a simple yet powerful vision: to develop a sustainability model that is economically viable, socially just, and ecologically correct. This dream was born from my expeditions, where I witnessed firsthand the stunning beauty and challenges faced by communities in biodiversity-rich ecosystems.
When I started ProNatura, I was driven by the desire to create lasting positive changes. What began as a small initiative has grown exponentially, and today, ProNatura has a historic presence in 67 countries, reaching millions with our projects. Collaborating with the International Finance Corporation - IFC (part of the World Bank) to develop the "Shared Value Platform (SVP)" exemplifies our commitment to innovations that leverage private investments for social challenges, directly impacting over 6 million lives over 39 years.
Over the years, our approach to sustainable development has evolved to include strategic partnerships that expand our reach and reinforce our impact. Working in collaboration with governments, businesses, academia/science, and other NGOs, we have turned challenges into opportunities, promoting development that benefits both the environment and people.
Reflecting on our journey so far, I feel immense satisfaction and a renewed commitment to the path we have chosen. There is still much to be done, and ProNatura's journey is one of continuous adaptation and learning. I am more dedicated than ever to promoting sustainable practices that strengthen communities and preserve our planet for future generations.
During this World Environment Week, I invite everyone to reflect on how we can, together, make a difference. Let's renew our commitments to the environment and continue working towards a future where sustainable development is not just a goal, but a reality.
