Day 2 of Kwanzaa Today, we honor Kujichagulia (Self - Determination), the second principle of Kwanzaa, which reminds us to define ourselves, name ourselves, and speak for ourselves. It’s a day to celebrate the power of self-determination and the importance of shaping our own narratives. As we reflect, we ask: How can we use our voices and actions to create a legacy rooted in authenticity, strength, and unity? #Kwanzaa #Kujichagulia #SelfDetermination #CelebrateCommunity

Habari Gani!? Kujichagulia! As I reflect on Umoja (Unity), the foundation of Kwanzaa’s principles, I am reminded of how closely it intertwines with Kujichagulia (Self-Determination). Unity binds us together as a community, but Kujichagulia empowers us to define who we are within that unity. Kujichagulia challenges us to name ourselves, to take control of our narratives, and to shape our collective future with intention and purpose. It’s a call to honor our individual voices while working in harmony to strengthen the bonds that hold us together. Incorporating these principles into our daily lives means striving for balance—honoring our personal goals and self-expression while committing to the greater good of our communities. Umoja provides the foundation; Kujichagulia gives us the tools to build boldly upon it. Together, these principles remind us that the strength of our unity lies in our ability to bring our authentic selves to the table and to advocate for the changes we want to see, not just for ourselves but for generations to come. Let’s carry this spirit forward—not just during Kwanzaa but every day—as we reflect on how we can create spaces that uplift both individual and collective progress. #Kwanzaa365

As we approach the celebration of Kwanzaa in just a few days, it’s a meaningful time to reflect on its profound importance and the principles it represents. Kwanzaa, rooted in African heritage and culture, invites us to honor community, family, and the shared values that connect us all. This week-long celebration encourages us to embrace its seven guiding principles: • Unity (Umoja): Strengthening bonds with loved ones and our communities. • Self-Determination (Kujichagulia): Defining our identity and shaping our own destiny. • Collective Work and Responsibility (Ujima): Supporting one another to build a brighter future. • Cooperative Economics (Ujamaa): Encouraging shared prosperity and mutual support. • Purpose (Nia): Committing to meaningful contributions to our community. • Creativity (Kuumba): Expressing ourselves through innovation and beauty. • Faith (Imani): Believing in ourselves, our people, and our future. Kwanzaa serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience, strength, and unity within our communities. It’s a time for storytelling, reflection, and celebration of culture, tradition, and progress. As the candles of the Kinara are lit, may we all be inspired to honor our roots, celebrate our achievements, and step into the New Year with purpose and pride. With love and gratitude, Duchess Letitia Kapuscinska #KwanzaaReflections #Unity #Heritage #Purpose #Celebration

Unchained minds I think I heard it said " botlhale ba Phala botswa phalaneng" I feel it and I have so many questions, involving the practical implementation of such a way of thinking, as this African person here now, yes, I do think or wonder about what the faith on "mind over matter," rests on, or is it doesn't matter what you believe in, as long as you believe in something, I don't see reconciliation in the lines of thought, if it is a valid natural science, what does Africa black and brown can take from this idea or principle voiced by the little girl, "about adjusting one's sails", what within this idea can I teaxh me or my children, I don't think she means I can disappear colonialism apartheid racism violence against each other, by some how pretending it is not there or the courses are not there, but what does it really entail, this idea or theory of mind over matter,,,, unchained mind, asks what is the difference between #BurkinaFaso's #leadership when compared to that of #South #Africa #Botswana #Zimbabwe #Lesotho #Malawi #Mozambique #Zambia #..... within the perception of mind over matter, did #Africa loose something essential of #self when his and hers #cultures were tumbled thousands of years ago, it is difficult to pray, I am confused by the process, what am praying to, if the big is me and I am forever in the process of explosive exploration of me in life. what is happening in my mind, and yours that keeps us slaves to the desire of others who want to experience this idea of being the chosen ones, and to them whether it is true or false I don't matter, it's an idea mined in schools churches entertainment taverns shebeens clubs The leadership of #Sahel has a vision, of prosperous Africa, it clashes with the vision of the colonizers, the leadership of the south that had vision was murdered and is murdered, the vision of #Biko #Hani #Zuma #Sobukwe did not agree with the vision pushed by #DA and endorsed by #ANC #Cadre #political #culture, can I flip my mind to see and to create an African whose wise leadership is safe and sound, and will I need to flip my mind, adjusting my sail to what is and work on what can be, existing beyond the margin of colour codes, choosing not to be superior to any, can I preserve me and not conquer my neighbour https://lnkd.in/dEgcdzK6
