Angel Gyms’ Post

Music has the power to completely change our mood. And our workout. Our Shoreditch PT Katie best describes it in this video. Studies have shown that loud, overbearing music (who hasn’t gone into a gym with banging techno and house playing) during exercise can cause anxiety and increase muscle tension, making it harder to focus and relax. Research published in The Journal of Sports Sciences found that high-volume music can elevate heart rates and cortisol levels, potentially leading to increased stress during workouts [Terry et al., 2012]. On the other hand, studies indicate that calmer music can reduce perceived exertion and improve workout performance by creating a more enjoyable atmosphere [Karageorghis & Priest, 2012]. So we opted for a calming yet fabulous approach at Angel: chilled vibes and 80s ballads. Learn more about the impact of music on exercise in our latest blog post https://lnkd.in/ezAe_WwS.
