Fernie Works is our response to the very common struggle that at-risk youth have as they search for employment. As young adults move to independence, they need the support of a network of caring people. Often, families are unable to help---that's when transition-focused employment programs make such a big impact, helping young people towards self-reliance. Fernie Works is designed for youth aged 16-24. It's about more than getting a job---it's about becoming a part of a community. Fernie Works helps youth form positive connections, learn employment skills, and get emotional support to help them along their journey toward self-reliance. World Day Against Child Labour, observed annually on June 12th, raises awareness about the plight of child laborers and encourages global efforts to eliminate child labor. Established by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2002, this day highlights the millions of children engaged in work that deprives them of their childhood, education, and basic freedoms. The theme changes each year, addressing various facets of child labor and promoting policies to combat it. Governments, organizations, and individuals collaborate through events, campaigns, and educational programs to emphasize the importance of protecting children's rights and ensuring their access to quality education. The ultimate goal is to eradicate child labor in all its forms, fostering a future where every child can grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour #EndChildLabour #ChildRights #EducationForAll #StopChildLabour #GlobalAwareness #ILO #ProtectChildren #NoChildLabour #ChildhoodMatters #HumanRights #YouthEmpowerment #FutureOfChildren #SocialJustice #ZeroChildLabour #ActNow #SustainableDevelopment #ChildProtection #SafeChildhood #EqualityForAll #dazzle #exhibition #worlwide #stallfabrication

Join us in advocating for parental rights and better education options, such as homeschooling and establishing our own community schools. The Problem: We have been fighting for 91 + years against the systemic and fundamental issues within the government schools that run deep and frankly beyond repair. The Solution: We must seriously consider alternative approaches, such as homeschooling and Booker T. Washington's education model of creating our own community schools, to take back control and autonomy of our children's education and their future. We can better address the root causes of educational disparities and provide more flexibility and personalized support for students to excel academically, personally, and spiritually. If we don't despise small beginnings and the effort required, our latter will be greater. (Zechariah 4:10 & Job 8:7) #exit2protect #parentalrights #Chicago #homeschool #microschool

"No, our maids shouldn't even use our washrooms." "Maids shouldn't use the same lifts as us." Sound familiar? Last week, I posted about the double standards we have regarding salaries and leaves for house helps. And it deeply resonated with so many of the readers here. But there are more points where these double standards are glaringly obvious. Ask yourself this question: if your house help asks to use your washroom, how many of us actually allow it? The most common reply is, "There is a common washroom on the ground floor; you can use that." Have we ever seen those common washrooms? Generally, they are in some neglected corner of the parking area, totally dirty, unkempt, and stinking. Would we expect not only the ladies of our house but even the men to use such facilities? Likely not. And it's not just about the washrooms. They can't use the same lifts as us—neither the house helps, the drivers, nor the delivery boys. Why? Because they are house helps? Do we assume we are superior? Do we assume they are dirty and can't travel with us? We are ok to have our dogs & pets travel with us in the same lift. But we want to put restrictions on humans travelling together? Is this the freedom we so proudly proclaim to the world !! These attitudes reveal a deep-seated sense of entitlement and superiority that is both unfounded and unjust. Our house helps work hard to support our households, often going above and beyond to make our lives easier. Yet, we deny them basic dignities that we take for granted. It's time to reflect on these behaviors and challenge our biases. Respect and dignity are not luxuries to be granted selectively; they are basic human rights that everyone deserves, regardless of their occupation. What are your thoughts? I highlighted the issue of the out-of-school children in Osun state at the Intergenerational Conversations on The Male Gender for project ‘Boys to Men’ on the 19th of Nov., put together by Treasure Jars Youth Centre in commemoration of our International Men’s Day which was put at 150,000 in Osun state and over 62% of that number being boys. I don’t think we have had issues of females as political tools and every time we try to cover the girls and leave the boys uncovered, the uncovered boys will draw the covered girls into the heat. These same boys tend to make the society inhabitable for us all. Unfortunately, most local, national and international interventions focus on the girls. Based on our reviews and evaluations at One House Development Initiative, some of which are currently being finalized upon, our recommendations are: ✍️That there should be serious awareness on family planning. ✍️Upgrading the learning environment for both students and teachers. ✍️The teachers’ welfare get upgraded Implementation and enforcement of the OOSC law already domesticated in the state. ✍️Inclusion in every single recommendation being implemented. The same boys we leave unattended are our future insurgents, miscreants, thugs, political tools and such. The growing number of out-of-school children is a time bomb set against us all in the nearest future if we do not nip it in the bud now. #OneHouse #InternationalMensDay #FamilyPlanning #OOSC Oluwatosin Adebusuyi
