Meet Suus, a 12-week-old Australian Labradoodle puppy who was suspected of having cricopharyngeal achalasia. When Suus was referred to the surgery department at AniCura MCD, she was experiencing significant difficulty swallowing. The strong suspicion of cricopharyngeal achalasia led to a swallowing study at the Universiteits Kliniek voor Gezelschapsdieren, which confirmed the diagnosis. Our surgical specialist, Mike Hubers, along with surgical intern Stef Kuipers, performed a myectomy of the cricopharyngeus muscle on Suus. Immediately after the surgery, Suus was able to swallow with ease. One week post-operation, Suus' referring veterinarian sent us a video update showing that Suus can now eat smoothly and is gaining weight! By working together and combining our expertise and resources, we achieved the best results for the patient. We wish Suus a continued speedy recovery! #MarsPetcare #ABetterWorldForPets #AniCura #PartnersInExceptionalVeterinaryCare

🌟 Today’s #MoeckMoments comes from the Tiergesundheitszentrum Bremer Schweiz GmbH & Co. KG! They rely on advanced anesthesia monitoring to keep your pets safe during surgery. 💉 They use the latest techniques like intubation and inhalation anesthesia, which allow for precise control of the anesthesia depth. Monitoring parameters include oxygen saturation, CO₂ levels, body temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate. And, of course, our #MoeckWarmingSystem mat is in use. It plays a crucial role in keeping the animals’ body temperature stable during anesthesia. Hypothermia can lead to longer recovery times and complications. With continuous heat supply, patients stay warm, ensuring a faster and safer recovery. 📍Tiergesundheitszentrum Bremer Schweiz GmbH & Co. Perineal Urethrostomy in Cats: A Lifesaving Procedure for Urinary Blockages Perineal urethrostomy (PU) is a surgical procedure often performed in male cats suffering from recurrent urinary blockages, which are commonly caused by urethral obstruction due to stones, crystals, or inflammation. These blockages can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. The PU surgery involves creating a permanent opening in the urethra through the perineal area (below the anus), allowing urine to bypass the narrow part of the urethra that is prone to blockages. This surgery significantly improves the quality of life for cats with chronic urinary issues and helps prevent future obstructions. While PU is a complex surgery, it is often a last resort after other treatments have failed, offering a long-term solution for cats prone to urinary blockages. #veterinarymedicine #cathealth #felinecare #perinealurethrostomy #veterinarysurgery

🐾 Success Story: Jaffa's Journey to Recovery from a CCL Rupture 🐾 Meet Jaffa, a seven-year-old Labrador who underwent TPLO surgery. Jaffa had a partial CCL rupture in the left pelvic limb that was approached conservatively for three years. A complete CCL rupture was eventually diagnosed, and TPLO surgery was performed 18 days later. Readings on the Stance Analyzer were taken prior to surgery, and tramadol was used PRN post-operatively. Due to reduced renal figures, NSAIDS were avoided. Jaffa's road to recovery involved weekly photobiomodulation therapy between twice a week to once every two to three weeks. Jaffa's progress three weeks post-surgery: ✅ Improved weight-bearing ✅ Better range of motion ✅ Reduced spinal discomfort Companion laser therapy treatment was a key part of Jaffa’s pain control & rehabilitation, allowing for a quicker return to weight bearing and activity after surgery.
