It’s nice to see historical verdicts handed down for animal abusers. This is the largest fine in the history of the Animal Welfare Act. Thirty-five million for a laboratory using beagle dogs for experimentation. I can’t wait to get to my next duty station and network with the animal people there. Every place I go, I try to get involved with animal protection causes. It’s been so interesting learning about the biggest problems from state to state (and this time overseas) and how advocates can come together to fix them. We all can find a way to motivate ourselves on an issue that furthers society. I can’t think of anything less divisive and nonpolitical than saving the lives of creatures without a voice. However politics exist everywhere. Navigating through these complex relationships and pushing change is never easy. However, if it were easy, then the rewards like this one would not be so sweet!
