The Fifth Global School on Refugee and Migrant Health kicks off tomorrow. This gathering brings together people from across policy and practice for 5 days to address the pressing health challenges faced by displaced populations worldwide. 1. This matters because with increasing migration and displacement, understanding and addressing refugee and migrant health is crucial for achieving UHC. 2. The event offers a unique platform for sharing best practices in refugee and migrant healthcare. 3. It's an opportunity to enhance our collective ability to respond to the complex health needs of vulnerable populations. Please explore agenda and participate in the live broadcast here: https://bit.ly/48Z387C For those interested in health systems strengthening, policy development, and the intersection of health systems with society, this event would provide insights that can inform our work better. #GlobalHealth #RefugeeHealth #MigrantHealth #PublicHealth

Having witnessed countless of policy implementation failures across sectors in government or academia, or industry, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) like Africa. ONE rule becomes very critical to address this problem: 👉🏽 Policymakers must resist the urge of rushing to implement interventions (evidence-based or best-available), without a comprehensive and thoughtful plan to evaluate WHAT works (intervention components), HOW it worked (implementation strategies and mechanisms), and WHY it worked (implementation determinants and contextual factors). This is essential to ensure that "evidence" is translated into "practice" scientifically, systematically, and sustainably. Thus, there is an urgent need for all of us, including practitioners, populations, and policymakers to get involved in IMPLEMENTATION SCIENCE to improve the health and livelihoods of people worldwide. It works!!! #policymaking #globalhealth #LMICs #implementationscience

Check out the new paper from the ReBUILD team - Assessing the role of non-state actors in health service delivery and health system resilience in Myanmar. https://lnkd.in/exrZhi5W The paper, from our teams in Burnet Institute and Institute for Global Health and Development, QMU, explores the role of non-state actors (NSAs) during crises in #Myanmar, and provides insights on how the resilience capacities they build over time to provide services in adverse circumstances have informed the response to the latest crisis in the country. Maria Paola Bertone of QMU said: "NSAs, such as NGOs, civil society organisations and Ethnic Health Organisations, are essential for service delivery especially in a setting such as Myanmar where the reach of the public health system is low. However, their role over time, as well as their contribution to the resilience of the health systems, are understudied. This study shows how service provision increasingly relied on NSAs in time of crises in Myanmar. NSAs are shown to have built resilience capacities such as the flexibility and adaptability to provide services in adverse circumstances which are grounded in the experience of previous crises."
