I had the privilege of visiting Plaksha University, a truly transformative institution reimagining the future of education and technology. Shahjad Khan thanks of the most real post of 2025 - I see people earning ₹40-50 LPA preaching, "Don't work for money." - I see millionaires in Koramangla with two BMWs in their garage lecturing about minimalism. - I see IIT/IIM graduates claiming a degree is just a piece of paper. - I see founders who refuse to give ESOPs declaring, "It's your company." Realside: -These ₹40-50 LPA people fight every year with their boss for a maximum hike. -These millionaires will never take an Auto or take public transport. -Most of these IIT/IIM people hardly recruit people from Tier-2 or Tier-3 colleges and keep the alumni circle tight. -These type of Founders keeps giving hope of ESOPs just to retain employees. Look guys all this advice is to keep most of us poor, ugly, and average. The world is full of hypocrites selling half-truths to protect their advantage. Stop taking wisdom on the fly.

I recently reread A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson after 2 decades. I last read it when I was an engineering student at Manipal. I loved the book because it is an excellent quizzing book. It's full of trivia that helps you win college quizzes. It's a different matter that despite reading it, I didn't win many quizzes :D. After re-reading it as a 40-year-old, my thoughts are quite different :). I am sure it remains a great quizzing book full of trivia, but I wouldn't know because quizzing days are long gone. My three key takeaways from the book are 1. Most discoveries are accidental. The discoverers were looking for something else when they found something that changed the world. Chance rules the world. Randomness drives progress. 2. Knowledge builds over time. Successive generations of scientists built over the work done by their predecessors. Knowledge compounds. 3. Amateurs were responsible for the most important discoveries and inventions of the past. They did science for the love of it. It was not their living. They didn't write research papers and applied for grants. Sadly, the era of gentleman scientists is over. Now, professional scientists from universities, research centres, and corporations do the best research. The world has become more competitive and complex. #reading #science #technology

Recently, I had the opportunity to revisit my college campus—Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya—nearly two decades after graduation. While I often reflect on the journey that started there, this visit had a deeper purpose. My daughter, now a freshman at Kelley School of Business, joined me to see the places that shaped my early adulthood. Walking those familiar pathways felt both nostalgic and inspiring. The campus was largely as I remembered it from the outside, but stepping inside revealed how much it had grown with the times—modernized classrooms, improved facilities, and a fresh energy among today’s students. I showed her my old hostel, where lifelong friendships were forged. We stopped by the same tea stall that was once the cornerstone of daily conversations and late-night problem-solving sessions. Those small rituals of campus life—grabbing chai before tackling another coding problem, studying in groups, and swapping ideas—laid the foundation for the problem-solving mindset and resilience that I carry as a software engineering leader today. What struck me most was seeing students who are now embarking on a similar journey, exploring what’s possible, and pushing the boundaries of their potential. Watching my daughter experience the start of her academic journey, I felt like I’d come full circle. From visiting her current campus to showing her my past one, the connection between her growth and mine feels seamless. It’s a reminder that learning is continuous, our experiences compound over time, and each new generation builds on what came before.
