🌱 Unlocking the power of science-embodiment fusion 🌱 Bridging the gap: exploring the intersection of researchers and practitioners in the field of #embodiment. It became an heartwarming journey together with Marbella Pérez-Peña. She does not only feel as a colleague in the field of embodiment but also as a friend. Her #PdD became a piece of art within our field. It was my pleasure to sharing online personal gatherings with such a wonderful researcher for about 2 years. Our monthly interactions have fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas, where theory and practice converge to illuminate new pathways forward. I Feel, therefor I Am: An investigation on mindfulness; body awareness, and emotion regulation in youth, is the title of Marbella Pérez-Peña PhD. Some insights of her research: 🌱 reduction of anxiety and arousal is key. 🌱 body awareness is important in order to be able to feel emotions 🌱 dealing with emotions is about being aware, acceptance and clarity Mindfulness has impact on mental health and increased body awareness. But, there is so much more to share.... Feeling grateful of being able to attend the evolution of scientific research within the field of embodiment in the academic community and having the privilege of lending my expertise to the advancement of embodiment scholarship. #embodiment #scientificresearch #mindfulness #leadershipembodiment #changeconsultancy #interdisciplinarycollaboration

Delving deeper into the need for deepening connections for pushing off from the earth's gravity through the skeleton and its relationship to learning, and reducing effort, pain, fear, panic, anxiety and irritability. Comparing the difference between the Chinese theory of meridians that end in ones feet and a Feldenkrais perspective of connecting with gravity for higher function, mental, emotionally and physically. The conversation of the inner connectedness through functional integration has begun. This is the interplay of what movement could be with what movement is and how it interplays with the emotions that travel faster than the ability for the mental process to capture it. (therefore beyond the storytelling of memories) The focus is on the spontaneous and organic reactions in my practice. #expectationscreatingemotionalreactions #lackofbodyintelligencecreatingfalseexpectations, #falseexpectationscreatingfear, #feldenkrias #insideawareness #cultivtingawareness

As we approach the end of stress awareness month I feel I should recommend my own book that will give you all the tools you need to understand and manage stress and anxiety - "In today’s hectic pace of life there’s not enough thought given to focussing on our mental well-being and mindfulness, let alone dedicating the necessary time to develop and improve it. Am I introvert or extrovert? Optimist or pessimist? Spontaneous or controlled? Through careful analysis, research, life experience and use of examples, the author encourages us to identify our personality and carefully develop it in a positive manner. Drawing on his skills as a psychoanalyst and physical therapist, his expertises and relaxation techniques are particularly beneficial." Can you recall a time someone really heard you without unsolicited advice or judgment? What did they do and how did that make you feel? Imagine a world where we were all skilled up in being this way for each other. It's time to rebuild our connection skills. Join Siri Chandler and myself for a free webinar introducing you to the 'Power of the Humanize Dyads' on July 24, 2024 1PM CET / 6PM THA. We live in a world that pushes us to be more busy yet less clear on what’s important, more online yet less connected to other people, more attuned to world events yet also more lonely and isolated. How can we restore a sense of connection to ourselves, others, and humanity? Can technology *actually* be used to bring us together? Join Humanize for a free introductory webinar on a new community and new mindfulness-based social practice––the “Daily Dyad.” Dyad simply means “two.” It’s a 15min daily online practice done with a peer for self-reflection & deep listening to another person. Developed & researched by social neuroscientists and expert mindfulness practitioners, the Dyad has been shown to build resilience, emotion management skills, social connectedness, empathy, and compassion. This innovative practice is now being offered online. Join our webinar to explore: ✔️What the dyads are and how they work ✔️The scientific research behind the practice 📌Register through link in comments, and reach out if you have any questions. In the words of one participant, “The Dyads have come to be a daily opportunity to ground and connect, with myself and someone else. My sense of common humanity has expanded in such a tangible way.” We would love to see you there! #DyadFoundation #Mindfulness #InteroceptiveAwareness #Compassion #Connection #MindfulLiving #InnerAwareness #SelfCompassion #EmotionalIntelligence #HolisticHealth #PersonalGrowth #MentalWellbeing #MindBodyConnection #Empathy #HumanConnection #MindfulLeadership #ConsciousLiving #InnerPeace #SelfAwareness #EmotionalWellbeing #SocialNeuroscience

“It may come as a surprise that living life in a full and expanded way is one of the most difficult challenges we face as human beings.” ― Laurence Heller, The most important lesson I have sedimented in my work is that its more about relational rather than relative safety. I am learning to shape a therapeutic context where you can speak to your sense of comparative threat and voice your experience of me being mis attuned and in your needs not being met. Sometimes as therapist we don’t want to deal with a rupture so we create a beautiful castle like Rapunzel where we may be stuck in the sanitized narrative and emotional terrain- its an impasse, waiting for time to pass. However, by moving slowly and inviting us to tune in to each other and teaching me how to be with you, you can find your freedom and inner anchor. In response to one such uncertain moment, I invited my client to role reverse with me and see what they wanted to say/ do from my role as a therapist. This human process allowed the agency and spontaneity to emerge to express how they wanted me to be with them. They shared later, no one had ever asked. For me this way of holding space is far from how we imagine safety (as a nest) in not having ever stepped into our client’s world. In this exploration, I shift from the false notion of protection to being open in the push, pull, stretch, gentle twisting, turning, stretching, grasping, letting go, distance, proximity, and how we may be together. My senses are being invited in here as I witness how we configure our relational space together, each moment pausing until the next one beckons. What might you express being with another in a safe connection ? #somatic #somatichealing #trauma #embodiment #somaticexperiencing #healing #mentalhealth #traumahealing #somatics #traumainformed #somatictherapy #somaticmovement #ptsd #mindfulness #nervoussystem #cptsd #therapy #traumarecovery #movement #embodied #healingtrauma #mindbodyconnection #complextrauma #nervoussystemregulation #bodymind

The methods and techniques of Hakomi Therapy are based on its five underlying principles derived from the work of Gregory Bateson and the sciences of non-linear, self-organizing systems: The Unity principle affirms that a living organic system is a whole made of parts, which in turn is part of a greater whole, where everything is ultimately connected to everything else in increasing levels of complexity. Organicity says that when all the parts are connected within the whole, the system is self-organizing and self-directing. Therapy therefore strives to respect organic wisdom, and looks for disconnections that need healing. Mind/body holism means that one's mind and body are integrated and can be used therapeutically together. Mindfulness is both a way of life, and a quality of awareness that helps people study the organization of their experience. Non-violence emphasizes one must feel safe for mindful explore exploration. Hakomi is the therapeutic expression of a specific set of Principles: Unity Mind-Body Holism Organicity Mindfulness Nonviolence and Loving Presence Each principle translates into particular practices and ways of being that evoke clients’ innate impulses toward healing. The first concern of the Hakomi faculty is to encourage our students to understand, embrace, and adhere to the Hakomi Principles, which Ron Kurtz described as the “theoretical underpinnings of the work.” This task requires a heartfelt, long-term commitment to personal and professional growth for participants. Toward that end, the curriculum incorporates kinesthetic, visual, and auditory teaching modalities that engage the body and mind of our students to support whole-person learning. Both in-person and virtual programs are dynamic and interactive, combining lectures with experiential activities, demonstrations, practice sessions, and inner exploration of how to “be” a therapist. We can all benefit from regularly making time to devote to our own self-care and self-inquiry. We are the only ones who will have the opportunity to know ourselves at every level, and our uniqueness deserves that deep level of enquiry if we are to make the best of our short lives on this planet. Meditation, journaling, talking with others are just a few of the valuable ways we can come to a better understanding of ourselves, our likes and dislikes, our personal motivations, values - and how we “tick”. Only by doing this in a compassionate and understanding way can we come to terms with what qualities or behaviours we can celebrate and be grateful for, and what qualities/behaviours we may feel uncomfortable with, and may therefore want to change or modify. We can also take time to consider those we value in our life, and those who we wish to move on from. We may also consider enlisting professional help or guidance to get us to where we aspire to be. How to find time to do it? Make time for You. Just like all those times when you make time for others, apply it to yourself now. Take a stroll in nature. Give yourself a quiet half hour to spend just how you want to, or indulge yourself with a rest and time to think. Think about yourself, who you are, what you do and how you do it, as well as how you like your life and how you’re working towards the future you want. You’ll find much food for thought, I’m sure. Only by giving ourselves precious time to reflect can we grow and nurture ourselves into becoming the better people we strive to be. And if you'd like to talk with me about how my Solution Focused therapy services could best help you, you're invited to book a free Discovery Call at https://lnkd.in/ejDHsiyb #youtime #choice #solutionfocusedtherapy #juancarlosgouveia #changeideserve #betterfuture #therapy #hypnotherapy #cbt #nlp #selfhelp #therapyworks #choosebetter #maketimeforyou #metime #selfcare #selfexamination #goals #values #motivation #selfknowledge
