As a proud Military Veteran, I want to take this moment on Veteran's Day to honor the 18 million living U.S. military veterans. These exceptional men and women, representing roughly 5% of the U.S. population, are part of an elite and selfless group who willingly volunteered to step into harm’s way so others could remain safe. Veterans come from every background, each bringing a unique set of experiences, strengths, and perspectives shaped by service and sacrifice. They volunteered to put duty above self, and in doing so, they gave the rest of us the freedom to pursue our careers, raise our families, and live our lives. When they transitioned back into civilian life, many of them faced, and in some cases continue to face, new sets of challenges—the cultural shift to Corporate America. Navigating the language of business, adjusting to new workplace dynamics, and building professional networks are hurdles they know all too well. It’s not always easy, and it’s not always seamless. Today, let’s not only thank Veterans for their service but recognize the dedication they bring to every role they take on and the responsibility we have to help them make a full and healthy transition. Let’s support Veterans as they continue to grow, adapt, and lead in the business world—because the qualities that made them outstanding service members make them invaluable colleagues, mentors, and leaders in every industry. Thank you, Veterans. We owe you our respect, our support, and our gratitude every day. #VeteransDay #ThankYouVeterans #MilitaryToCivilian #VeteransInBusiness #VeteranLeadership #ServiceAndSacrifice #VeteranTransition #CorporateLeadership #GratefulNation #HireAVeteran #VeteranEmpowerment

I made a comment to my eldest today when he was complaining to embrace the Suck which got us into a conversation about what it means. The phrase "Embrace the Suck" is more than just military slang; it's a mantra that encapsulates the essence of resilience, adaptability, and unwavering strength in the face of adversity. Rooted deeply within the military culture, this saying serves as a powerful reminder to soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines that hardship is not only inevitable but also an integral part of the journey towards growth and achievement. This article delves into the origins, meanings, and applications of "Embrace the Suck," shedding light on its significance within the military and beyond. The applicability of "Embrace the Suck" extends beyond the military, offering valuable lessons for civilian life. It teaches the importance of resilience, adaptability, and the power of a positive mindset in overcoming obstacles. Whether it's navigating personal hardships, professional challenges, or societal issues, embracing the difficult aspects of any journey can foster growth, strength, and, ultimately, success. 🇺🇸 From the battlefield to the boardroom, these distinguished individuals are pursuing a new mission. Yesterday, I had the honor of discussing the U.S. military veteran’s journey from the military sector to the civilian sector with Joshua Galle, SHRM-SCP and Bill Reed, two veterans who've navigated these waters. Joshua is a former combat Marine and Bill a former Navy diver. I have provided a link to the discussion in the comment section. The occasional stigma surrounding veterans in the civilian workforce is unfortunate; and unwarranted. 🌟 Veterans bring unparalleled qualities to the table – resilience, leadership, and a mission-focused mindset. Yet, misconceptions linger. The belief that veterans are too rigid or face potential challenges like PTSD overshadows their vast potential. This isn't just a loss for veterans; it's a missed opportunity for businesses. It's time we shift our perceptions and fully integrate these exceptional individuals into our corporate landscapes. After all, if they can lead missions in uncertain terrains, imagine what they can achieve in our organizations. #MilitaryVeterans #MilitaryTransition #MilitaryToCivilian #MilitaryFamilies Steve Doolittle Bradley Blakeman Gavin Naples aryeh katz Roger Brown Jim Whaley David Carnahan MD MSCE Doug "Odie" Slocum Omar Fuentes, CSPO®, CSM® John Stapleton, MBA, CMPE Michelle Mullany Eric Gardner Sonya Ziegler Meline

Ever wondered how military service has shaped the lives of some of history's most notable figures? The dedication, discipline, and resilience developed during service are invaluable, even if you take a completely different path afterward. Top three things you should know: 1. Resilience Beyond Service: Many famous figures, from Hollywood legends to political icons, credit their time in the military with building their resilience. Whether it’s handling high-stress situations or learning to adapt on the fly, these are skills that apply in every field. 2. Leadership in Unexpected Places: Figures like Elvis Presley and Clint Eastwood demonstrated that leadership is transferable, whether it’s leading a squad or a creative team on set. For transitioning veterans, this is a reminder that leadership doesn't have to end with military service—it just takes on new forms. 3. Bridging Cultures & Experiences: Veterans often understand diverse perspectives, having served alongside people from various backgrounds. Stars like Ice-T and Jimi Hendrix used this adaptability to connect with audiences and influence culture. This skill can be a unique strength in post-military careers. This article shows how diverse career paths can be after service, offering some inspiration for leveraging your unique background and experiences in new ways. #VeteranTransition #MilitaryLifeSkills #ResilienceMatters https://lnkd.in/evhyantn

As Veterans Day approaches, we pause to honor and express our deepest appreciation to U.S. military veterans and their families. As a third-generation Army veteran, I understand firsthand the sacrifices and dedication that military veterans and their loved ones make. At Strategic Location Services, a veteran-owned company, we are committed to supporting the defense industry and defense communities across the country, where veteran talent plays a vital role in every project. Veterans represent one of the most dynamic, yet sometimes underutilized, talent pools in the workforce. They bring unique skills and perspectives that are often unmatched in the civilian job market. Beyond technical expertise, veterans bring invaluable qualities to civilian roles—leadership, respect, dedication, teamwork, adaptability, and loyalty. Their commitment to their military branch and individual units translates well into corporate environments, where loyal employees enhance teamwork and contribute to improved employee retention. Hiring veterans provides organizations with an opportunity to build a stronger, more cohesive workforce. Furthermore, many veterans hold DoD security clearances that are in high demand, particularly among federal and defense contractors. President Ronald Reagan once stated, “Veterans know better than anyone else the price of freedom, for they’ve suffered the scars of war. We can offer them no better tribute than to protect what they have won for us.” As a U.S. Army veteran, I am profoundly grateful for those who served before me and for those who continue to serve this great nation. Today, we honor the bravery and sacrifices made by all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Veterans Day is a time to express gratitude for the commitment and selflessness of those who have defended our freedoms and protected our nation. To all veterans: Thank you for your service and the immense value you bring to our communities and workplaces. In recognition of Veterans Day I’d like to share the following ways we can support former military employees in our workplaces: 1. Recognize and Translate Military Skills: Take the time to understand how military roles translate to business skills. Support veterans by offering resources that match their experiences with civilian job functions. 2. Provide Flexibility and Support: Be mindful of the challenges that can come with transitioning from military to civilian work life. Flexible schedules and comprehensive mental health resources can make a big difference. 3. Celebrate Their Background: Create opportunities for veterans to share their experiences and leadership lessons. Consider hosting events or starting a veterans’ network to strengthen bonds and elevate their voices. Inclusivity empowers everyone, and as we move forward, let’s continue finding ways to better honor and support our veteran colleagues. #VeteransDay #ThankYouForYourService #WorkplaceInclusion #DiversityEquityandInclusion #DiversityMatters #InclusionMatters #EquityMatters
