Responding to the urgent need for ways to diagnose #endometriosis, the NIH is using a method that's been shown to speed the development of innovations: A RADx challenge. If you are innovating, or looking to support innovations in this space, tune in to an informational webinar on August 28th at 8 am PST/11 EST to learn about this competition which will ultimately involve 10 companies and give out more than $300K in prize money. Read more and sign up for the webinar here: https://lnkd.in/d27DbH5X The The National Institutes of Health RADx challenges are an amazing tool. They are fast, they are not one winner-takes-all, and have proven to be a way to foster and support innovators who go on to gather more dilutive and VC funding. In this case, the need certainly matches the challenge. Endometriosis impacts one in 10 women. In addition to being very sick, these sufferers endure an AVERAGE journey of 7 to 10 years before diagnosis. Their #fertility is usually compromised, and their quality of life is ALWAYS impacted. And often their diagnosis leads to cancer. The disease is responsible for hundreds of thousands hysterectomies per year, meaning survivors live without either or both #ovaries, compromising their health for their lifetimes. Companies like Hera Biotech and others are finding better approaches, but this is a case where more is needed. What approaches will be included? Imaging technologies In vitro diagnostic devices Clinical laboratory tests Integrated sensing technologies Wearable devices Digital health platforms utilizing advanced computational approaches (such as machine learning or artificial intelligence) to predict likelihood of endometriosis for better targeted clinical triaging. We'll be reading about this challenge and seeing its fruit for a long time to come! Kudos to the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) for taking this on. #womenshealth #endometriosis #femtech #wearables #digitalhealth #reproductivehealth #ovaries #hysterectomy

🌏 Innovating Gut Health Diagnosis! New Zealand startup Alimetry has received $18 million to develop a non-invasive wearable device that helps diagnose functional stomach diseases using AI. The device uses a flexible electrode mesh that is attached to the patient's abdomen to record the electrical activity of the gastrointestinal tract. This data is processed using cloud technologies and artificial intelligence to obtain clinical biomarkers that support diagnosis. While in the clinic, the patient puts on the device, eats a light meal, and then records their symptoms in the Alimetry app. The data collected during the test helps doctors identify specific phenotypes that allow them to personalize treatment. The startup is developing a high-density electrode technology to capture stomach activity more accurately. Alimetry plans to expand the use of the device in the US, UK, and New Zealand, and has received four approvals from the FDA. ❓What AI device would you like to see in the context of artificial intelligence? #MedTech #DigitalHealth #AIinHealthcare #GutHealth #WearableTech #Gastroenterology #HealthcareInnovation #StartupFunding #Alimetry #FDAApproval #HealthTech #PatientCare #NonInvasive

It was a privilege to attend the 2024 Precision Health Summit together with a group of leaders in the #precision health and medicine space, last week in NYC. Key takeaways: 💡in the past year, 38% of all FDA-approved drugs were precision medicine, utilizing biomarkers 💡2/3 of all drugs in pharma-driven clinical trials are categorized as precision medicine Precision medicine as an approach is clearly working in cancer and is here to stay. At Hebbian Bio, we are focused on neuro conditions by building a neuro-precision platform for better drug target identification and patient stratification. Much of our work is centered on neurodevelopmental disorders, some of which are currently classified as #rare, a concept that will be obsolete as precision medicine advances. Hebbian Bio is making “rare” less rare.

Last week we concluded the 2024 Precision Health Summit. The conference was designed to create a community around #precisionhealth, from predictive prevention all the way to cell therapies, from consumer health to patient outcomes, all well beyond the traditional definitions of #precisionmedicine. I am grateful to LifeNome Inc., LG NOVA, and Cellino for their support of the conference. With the enthusiastic feedback we received, the conference was a qualified success. Discussions were animated, the participants shared with passion and a collaborative spirit of synergistic thought leadership was present instead of it becoming an advertising platform for companies and their technologies. We covered everything from #longevity, #womenshealth, targeted #celltherapies and #regenerativemedicine, #drugdiscovery, #commercialization, #investment, to #molecularsurgery, #RNA technology, #wearables, #data challenges in #AI training, and #precisionhealth across the globe. For that I am grateful to all the speakers both those in-person in New York City on October 9th and those who joined us online on October 10th. We will see you next year for the Precision Health Summit 2025. If you weren't able to attend, stay tuned on LifeNome Inc.'s page for videos of all the talks over the next couple of weeks. Thank You!
