Would you like to be part of a promising market? Then join us at #CentralAsiaPlastWorld - the most important trade fair for plastics & rubber in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The show will take place June 26 to 28, 2024, at the Atakent Exhibition Center in Almaty. Why #Kazakhstan? Kazakhstan is considered the most economically developed country in Central Asia, with a gross domestic product of 193 billion US dollars. The country is aiming for greater industrialization in the coming years and is experiencing high growth, e.g. in the automotive industry. Imports of machinery and equipment as well as chemical products are booming. For this reason, annual growth of around six percent in plastics consumption is expected in the coming years. #CentralAsiaPlastWorld is a member of the "Global Gate" service brand. Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, which organises K – The World's No.1 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber, bundles its global business in this sector under this brand. A successful ITMA Asia 2024 closed its door. Stephan Kehry from Erhardt+Leimer GmbH summarizes as follows: "ITMA ASIA 2023 showed two things: the great potential of Asian textile machine manufacturers on the one hand and the lack of customers on the other. One year later, the current edition of ITMA ASIA confirmed the supremacy of the Asian competition, although more customers seemed to have found joy in investing again. Accordingly, Erhardt+Leimer's expectations in the run-up to the trade fair were rather muted, but were raised to a cautiously optimistic level after the first few days. The 90m² stand was well attended for almost the entire time and the almost 20 employees of the long-established German company had their hands full answering the enquiries of well over 200 visitors and presenting appropriate solutions in the fields of automation, sensor technology and energy saving. This trade fair has once again impressively demonstrated that quality and innovation are still the main factors for not only surviving against an ever-increasing competition, but also for emerging from it stronger." #TextileIndustry #TextileMachinery #ITMA

𝐈𝐓𝐌𝐀 𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐀 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 In economically difficult times, ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024 in Shanghai was better than expected. Gunnar Meyer, Managing Director, Monforts said: “We were very satisfied with this year’s ITMA ASIA + CITME and there were more visitors than at year’s last show in Shanghai – and certainly more than we expected, given a challenging business environment. There is no escaping the fact that China remains the Number One textile manufacturing centre worldwide and we are now very optimistic about an appetite for new investment which was suddenly noticeable at ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024. China has a number of advantages, including a massive domestic market and a highly developed infrastructure and supply chain network. There is a wealth of domestic producers and we now see big potential for further growth. In addition to companies from China, we also had very good discussions with companies from Egypt, India, Pakistan and Vietnam, some of whom we already knew, but many who were new to us, as these markets continue to grow. Alongside enquiries about our own well-established technologies, visitors showed a lot of interest in our recently-announced collaboration with Archroma and Baldwin Technology on solutions which are charting the course for the future of sustainable textile finishing.” Georg Stausberg, CEO, Oerlikon Polymer Processing Solutions summarized the trade fair as follows: “It is becoming increasingly more challenging for participating companies to present groundbreaking innovations at the ITMA trade fair, as it is now held annually. Nevertheless, ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024 was once again a convincing international communication platform, especially in one of the most important markets for us in the manmade fiber industry. In addition to all our Chinese customers, we were able to provide detailed information on our new products and services to many international visitors, particularly from Pakistan, Egypt and Southeast Asia. ITMA has once again helped us to keep pace with the times within the global textile industry.” #TextileIndustry #TextileMachinery #ITMA

I WAS hooked to my phone yesterday checking the US election results on the beach in Thailand, and then had to think what to say this morning during my presentation at the 9th Asian Polyolefins Conference in Bangkok. Seems probable that entirely relocating many manufacturing chains to the US will be difficult, and it seems likely that demand for competitively priced finished goods in the US will remain strong. Some of the countries listed below could benefit in terms of polymers consumption. Their demand for polymers may be higher than the ICIS base cases and China's lower. In other words, we may see a reordering or a relocation of demand. Factories manufacturing finished could increasingly relocate to some of the countries below, a process already well underway. Who would own the factories, and who would supply the polymer raw materials? Any guesses? The chart below shows per capita consumption, which is a crude but still useful measure of demand as it doesn't take into account polymers contained in exports. These were some of the thoughts I raised in my paper, in line with my recent blog on Turkey - https://lnkd.in/gBBcfXnN. We are in a world of increased volatility where you need more ICIS data, more access to our experts - and scenarios and more scenarios to plan for what happens next. Thanks to Scott D., the rest of the ICIS events team, and my ICIS editorial and analytics colleagues for another great event. And, of course, many thanks to all our delegates.

Our goal is to innovate and grow in Europe as well as in China. This was a key message of my interview with the Belgian television channel Kanaal Z ahead of today's opening of our new plant in China. I also highlighted several other key points: 1. 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚: We are investing €14 million in a state-of-the-art polyamide plant located more than 100 kilometers south of Shanghai. This investment is driven by the growing demand in the Chinese market for smart solutions in various industries, including electric cars and green energy. 2. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Through this investment, we aim to strengthen our position as a global leader in #polyamide engineered materials. Despite the current trend of reduced investment in the #chemical industry, we see strategic value in expanding our presence in China. 3. 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Our success is based on continuous #innovation. We work closely with our customers to explore new applications for our products. For example, our materials has helped create a pressure washer gun made entirely from recycled polyamide 4. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: We are committed to #sustainability. Our goal is to increase the sales volume of engineered materials based on sustainable feedstock from 10 percent to 20 percent by 2030. 5. 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬: While investing in China, we continue to invest in Europe. Our European investments are primarily focused on ensuring the sustainability of our factories and products. Our European innovations and operations remain the backbone of DOMO Chemicals. 6. 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲: I support the idea of a single European market for industry and capital, as discussed at the European Industry Summit in Antwerp organized by Cefic. European and national policymakers must spare no effort in safeguarding the competitiveness of the chemical industry. View the interview here in Dutch, starting at minute 4: https://lnkd.in/d7fFDyYH
