Take a minute to look at your career as if it was an aeroplane… Is it on the right runway? Is it on autopilot? Is it heading in the right direction? Or have you ended up on someone else’s plane? Maybe you’re thinking about that parachute on your back, the hankering you’ve had for a while to escape and start your own business, but that you just haven’t had time to deploy yet. Do you feel like you’ve somehow ended up on the wrong flight path and that you’re heading away from the working life you once imagined? On Tuesday the Corporate Escape Club hosted our member’s Club Café day. Founder member Simon Bird guided us through a creative exercise where we all drew an aeroplane that represented our business. We then listed all the things that are creating drag, taking us off course or affecting our trajectory and then all the aspects that create lift, driving us upward and forward. It was fascinating to review everyone’s planes after and see that many were headed skywards! We had all types, including an island hopper, a fighter jet and a couple of steady twin engined passenger jets! It was helpful to become aware of how we feel about our companies, the potential storms that we have to navigate and be reminded of the need to regularly refuel. Running our own businesses is challenging, but we are piloting our own planes, in control of the direction and trajectory. We get to choose our runway and can make sure our plane is headed in an exciting direction. So is it time you explored the possibility that you could parachute out of your job and take control of your own plane by converting your career into an airworthy business? DM me and let’s have a chat about the flight plan that will take you where you want to go. #corporateescapeclub #b2bconsultancy
This was a really powerful exercise and made us think differently about our businesses. The different size planes and perspectives from each member was interesting. Up up and away ✈️
Great exercise to explore moving forward and where to. Regardless of drawing ability its a good reminder of where we want to go and what baggage we carry. Anneve Hutchinson

9moAs an avid aviation fan I simply love those analogies! Made me think while I wait for air traffic control to give me the ok to fire up my engines again! Anneve Hutchinson
