Dissemination and implementation (D&I) studies are a growing sector of medical research. In a commentary published in Implementation Science Communications, Sara Becker, Kira DiClemente-Bosco, and Dennis Li worked with other D&I faculty to define D&I terminology and methodology for non-specialists. They described the "D&I Bridge," which explains the role of D&I science to correct gaps in health care practices. The reality is there are not enough patients living in site databases. People are willing to participate in clinical research, but they just don't know about it. WE do clinical research things every day. People not in Life Sciences, DO NOT. Most have no idea where to go, who to ask, what's available, what's required, how to digest clinical findings, etc. Most of the folks I sip bourbon with at these clinical events have no idea what's really in their glass. How it was made, what makes it unique, what's its value, how available is it, etc. Until I tell them 😉. And then somehow, it tastes better. And we expect patients and their caregivers to understand clinical research and the jargon on CT.gov? 🛑 ~5% of doctors in the US are actual PIs. Five percent! There's a massive gap here - is it not big enough yet?

📣 Live from the Patients As Partners in Clinical Research Community News conference! Mahasweta Dutt, MS, MRA, CCRC, emphasizes that the nuances of a protocol procedure is often more complex in practice than design. 🗒 Jillian Agnew, RN, CCRC, focuses on high efficiency in protocol execution so there is plenty of time for a personal connection. 👥 Protocols are complex. Appreciation of all the hidden tasks and helping sites to execute efficiently improves the patient experience. ⭐ By empowering sites with the tools and support needed for efficient execution, we not only advance scientific endeavors but also uphold the principle of patients as partners in the journey of clinical research. 🔍 #patientsaspartners2024 #patientsaspartners #ClinicalResearch #ClinicalStudy #patientexperience

Clinical research is soooo important. And it takes each of us doing our small part in support of research projects to have successful medical innovation for patients. Never think your role is too small or that what you do isn't important, because it is! From the research volunteers, doctors and site teams and through to all the other groups that may fund and support the conduct of clinical trials, each of us plays an important role! I am proud of the collective work we do and celebrate all of us on Clinical Trials Day. #CTD2024 #ILoveClinicalResearch #ClinicalTrialsDay
