The Never-Ending Quest for Improvement as a Software Engineer As a software engineer, I've learned that humility and continuous learning are essential. No one has all the answers, and there's always room for growth. I actively seek feedback to improve my communication skills and better explain my work. If verbal explanations are challenging, I've found that writing things down and using those notes can be incredibly helpful. I also believe in the power of learning from others. By observing and asking questions, I can continually refine my approach. Having a mentor or seeking feedback from colleagues has proven invaluable in guiding my development at each stage. Here are the factors you should consider before choosing your mentor: 1. Define Your Goals 🎯 Understand what you want to achieve in your career. Are you looking to improve your coding skills, learn about specific technologies, or understand the industry better? 2. Look for Experience and Expertise 🧠  Find someone with experience in the areas you want to grow. This could be a senior engineer, a professor, or someone working in a role you aspire to have. 3. Consider Cultural Fit 🤝 A good mentor-mentee relationship is built on mutual respect and understanding. Look for someone whose values and communication style align with yours. 4. Seek Out Opportunities to Connect 🌐  Attend industry events, join professional organizations, and participate in online communities. Networking is key to finding potential mentors. 5. Be Proactive and Respectful 📩  Reach out to potential mentors with a clear and concise message. Explain why you admire their work and how you think they can help you grow. Be respectful of their time and commitments.Take the time to build meaningful connections and don't be afraid to seek guidance. Coding was not my cup of tea, and I was learning image editing, I even started making YouTube tutorials. (I love to share what I know) But In my 6th semester, Responsibilities hit, & getting a job became a priority. I realised I’d be wasting my potential if I didn’t try. I started preparing and this quote perfectly describes my preparation phase  "I quit every goddamn day, I just never said it out loud." - Harvey Specter Slowly and gradually, I started understanding things and kept going, still going cause in IT the learning never stops (This challenges me even more) And this journey just took an incredible turn. I'm happy to announce that I'm officially a Software Engineer at Google. Here's to new beginnings, accepting the unexpected & the power of dedication! In 2 years, I went from a junior to a senior developer at Google. The session was truly enlightening and filled with valuable insights that will surely guide me on my journey to becoming a successful software developer. 🌟 Core Skills for Cracking Big Companies: She delved deep into the essential skills and techniques required to break into top-tier tech giants. She emphasized the importance of mastering Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), which are critical for solving complex coding challenges. 💡 Coding and Problem-Solving: The workshop highlighted the significance of honing our coding skills and developing a systematic approach to problem-solving. Practical tips on how to prepare for and tackle coding problems were shared, which will be immensely beneficial as I continue to refine my technical abilities. ✨ Journey to Google: She shared her inspiring journey, complete with the ups and downs she faced while cracking Google. Hearing about her challenges and triumphs was both motivating and reassuring, reminding us that perseverance and dedication are key to success. 💫 Importance of Communication: One of the standout points was the emphasis on effective communication. In the real world, being able to communicate clearly and collaborate with others is just as important as technical expertise. This was a valuable reminder of the holistic skill set needed to thrive in the tech industry. 🔹 Surviving in the Corporate World: Practical advice on navigating the corporate landscape was provided, giving us a clearer understanding of what it takes to succeed in a professional environment.
