I want to share a personal journey with you all. For a long time, I struggled with measurement and metrics, which impacted my career as a commercial training manager. It led to missed opportunities and stunted personal growth and, consequently, even stunted revenue growth for the company. But I persevered and learned that it was possible to overcome these challenges. By focusing on telling impactful stories about the value of training in organisations, using metrics as the frame, I began to achieve goals I once thought were out of reach. In implementing product training programs, metrics inevitably tell the story and are the backbone of successful business partnerships, unlocking budget approvals and highlighting the tangible impact of your team's efforts. Numbers tell a powerful story, giving you the confidence to make your voice heard in challenging meetings. Yet, the product training industry faces notable obstacles that demand attention for product training departments and personnel to claim their rightful position in the organisation. Let's begin to tackle these hurdles collectively and pave the way for progress. #Metrics #BusinessPartnerships #producttraining #Challenges #Teamwork #professionalgrowth #overcomingchallenges

Make your competency project seamless: Start by defining a competency framework. ➡️ Imagine building a puzzle without the picture on the box. You have all the pieces, you have the will, but without the guiding image, completing the puzzle becomes a daunting task. ➡️ Starting a competency project without first defining a competency framework is quite similar. You may have ample resources and interest, but if you don't have a clear image of what you are building, it's tough to assemble the pieces. ➡️ Defining a competency framework is like having that box image for your puzzle. It gives everyone a clear idea of what needs to be achieved and a guide on how to get there. Check out the image below for what to include in a competency framework. ⤵️ #competencies #talentmanagement #humanresources

They also help you ensure you have the right people in the right places—those puzzle pieces we have discussed in the past. The four critical questions that a skills assessment on your team will answer: 1: What training gaps exist? 2: Who are the rock stars in performance? 3: When will people be ready for promotions? 4: How does my talent measure up against my competitors? When compiling a skills assessment, briefly consider your “ideal” employee’s characteristics. Pick 4-6 categories you want to analyze and then break down each into another 4-6 elements. Examples of a few categories could be situational awareness, decision-making skills, teamwork, etc. When you drill down on each, go all the way to the traits used. Are they showing empathy, caring, knowledge, self-confidence? Once you know what you are looking for and how you will gauge the current skill level, your team will better understand your expectations and learn how to achieve and surpass the benchmarks you are evaluating them on. The world of sales is a constant learning experience. Last week, a situation arose that underscored the importance of two key elements: following established processes and being open to constructive feedback. Why are both important? Processes provide a roadmap – They ensure consistency, minimize errors, and keep things moving smoothly. Feedback fuels growth – Hearing different perspectives allows us to refine our approach and identify areas for improvement.
