HF effects in medium-frequency transformers are often analysed using relatively large equivalent multi-conductor networks. The frequency-dependent parameters of these networks, such as resistances and inductances, are typically derived from computationally intensive finite element simulations.  A recent paper by Bastian Korthauer presents an approach that enables to compute these parameters over two orders of magnitude faster than FE simulations, while maintaining comparable accuracy.  If you are interested, you can find further details here: https://lnkd.in/duegp_ph

The first paper of my PhD has been published! We study how systems of four point masses can model rigid bodies subject to unilateral contact with friction. Dear Joseph Backofen, during my numerical simulations of spallation (at least 30 simulations), the thickness of the main spall is approximately the thickness of the impactor. I did spallation simulations for 2 cases. -Same material for the impactor and impactee: We can prove mathematically in this case that the break occurs exactly at the same thickness as the impactor thickness. -Different materials for the impactor and the impactee: see the image in the post. I am now working on a simulation to show you that if the impactor have the same thickness then we don't see this spall. How can this happen if the main spall need to have the same thickness!!! I want to show you this in 1D at least. Do you agree with these first observations where the thickness of the impactor is smaller compare to the thickness of the impactee ?

Excited to share my latest research titled "Weak Ferromagnetic Interactions of Sm₂Fe₂O_(5+δ) Induced by Coupling of the Crystal and Related Lattice Vibrations." As the demand for next-generation spintronic devices continues to rise, developing materials with stable structural and magnetic properties across varying temperatures become increasingly essential. I’m excited to share our latest research on Sm₂Fe₂O_(5+δ) (SFO) orthoferrites, where we successfully synthesized a Pnma space group structure using high-temperature solid-state reactions. Our work reveals critical insights into the behavior of Fe³⁺ ions in tilted FeO₆ octahedrons, including the ordering of rare-earth ions and complex spin transitions at low temperatures. These findings could lead to advances in spintronic technology, especially around room temperature, offering stability due to thermal activation in accordance with Kneller's law. This research contributes to the broader understanding of magnetic materials and their potential for innovative technological applications. We still maintain here that there is no spall fracture when the impactor and the impactee have the same thickness. Can numericians or software engineer in Solid Dynamics share their opinion here? Our last Simulation is on the way 😊.

Researchers at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) are pioneering a new coupled approach that bypasses the traditional trade-off between accuracy and speed in various CFD simulations. By combining accurate fluid-structure interaction (FSI) modeling with a speedy multiple reference frame (MRF) strategy, the team was able to obtain high-fidelity simulations with fast computational runtimes. This blog describes their journey, from the initial idea to testing with CONVERGE and future applications. While SwRI tested their approach on a turbocharger, the researchers are confident that their technique can be applied to any simulation where speed and accuracy are equally important. The translational and torsional vibration of the MSMW are investigated in this article, and the damping regulation method is proposed to improve the anti-vibration performance of the MSMW. Firstly, the modellings of the MSMW, including the dynamic models and the displacement coordinate, are developed, and the comprehensive damping characteristics of the MSMW are investigated. Moreover, the transfer functions of the translational and the torsional vibrations are established using the dimensionless model, and the relationship between the dynamic response and the stiffness/damping coefficient is studied. Furthermore, the numerical simulations of the dynamic response of the translational and torsional vibration are conducted. Finally, the experiments are designed to verify the vibration characteristics of the MSMW, and the dynamic displacements are measured to analyze the anti-vibration performance of the proposed damping regulation method. The results indicate that the displacement deflection of the translational vibration is reduced by 68.8%, and the angle deflection of the torsional vibration is mitigated by 71.2% by regulating the damping coefficient.
