We are excited for Antares Ventures to co-lead the $2.8M investment round in Open Ocean Robotics (OOR) and support its founder Julie Angus' mission to revolutionize and decarbonize ocean monitoring through advanced technology. Open Ocean Robotics' solutions empower private and public organizations with safer, more affordable, and sustainable coastal and ocean oceanographic and maritime data collection, enhancing marine resource understanding and preservation for a sustainable future. We will be working with Julie and the OOR team to expand the company to Southeast Asia, which represents one the world's largest and most diverse marine ecosystems, while at the same time representing 30% of the world's maritime trade and marine industry. We are 1 of 5 nominees for the Norwegian Research Council’s Innovation Award, and I feel a bit humbled when I see who we’re nominated alongside: 🤖 1X – leaders in robotics on a global scale 🤕 ABEL Technologies – fighting workplace absenteeism 🌲 NINA and Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) – using AI to map deforestation in Norway ⚓️ Maritime Robotics AS – developing technology for unmanned vessels at sea   The Innovation Award recognizes those who have created innovation through the strategic use of research.   For us at ECOnnect Energy, the emphasis on "strategic use" is key.   Innovation is about moving the world forward. It’s not enough to develop something new—it must also reach the market to make an impact.   To put it bluntly: there’s no point in developing something if we can’t bring it to customers who can experience the value of the innovation. Roboat raises capital for autonomous technology enabling sustainable inland shipping 🚢   Roboat is developing advanced autonomous navigation systems for ships on inland waterways.
