Today started like any other: I woke up, hopped on the metro 🚇, and sipped my yerba mate ☕. But little did I know, my visit to the #IBTM (IBTM Events ) in Barcelona 🇪🇸 would be a game-changer! Then, out of the blue, Connor Bryant Bryant approached me, drawn by the “recyclable” sticker ♻️ on my MacBook 💻. He mentioned he was about to give a talk on solarpunk 🌞, and I couldn’t resist joining. His insights into Rubbish Ideas and their innovative Rubbish Portal were mind-blowing! I even had the chance to film his talk 🎥 and dive deep into discussions about innovation in the waste industry 🗑️. Connor shared a powerful metaphor: “You wouldn’t throw away a golden wrapper,” emphasizing how design influences waste. I’m thrilled about the potential collaborations with Connor to build a bright, solarpunk future! Did you know? The world generates over 2 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste annually, with at least 33% not managed in an environmentally safe manner. ♻️🌱🚀

🌟 Fun Friday Post 🌟 In my personal life, I'm a big fan of "Catan" - the quintessential nerdy board game, where the players rush to accumulate resources and build cities on an uninhabited island. The game makers are releasing an intriguing new variant of Catan, which mirrors the choices we make as a society with respects to where we get our energy from. See below for "Catan: New Energies": https://lnkd.in/eNRJUYFv In this version, players must choose between using fossil fuels to grow rapidly at the cost of increasing pollution, or growing more slowly while maintaining the environment. Sound familiar? The game promises to be well balanced: sometimes, the fossil fuel users win due to their rapid growth, but beware - if the pollution rises too high, catastrophe hits the island and the most eco-conscious player wins by default. Huge kudos to the game developers for designing a game that is relevant to current dilemmas we face as a society - the need to balance growth with sustainability. At Addionics, I'm strongly motivated to increase the sustainability of batteries by reducing the amount raw materials (principally copper) that are required for building cells. #sustainability #catan #boardgames #green #batteries
