🔔 High Seas Treaty and the role of the EU. Interesting new policy brief from the Brussels-based think tank, Europe Jacques Delors. 💡 There is much work that the EU and its member states can already do to prepare for implementation, in particular laying the groundwork for establishing marine protected areas in the High Seas. 👉 The EU played a critical role in the negotiations leading to the Treaty’s successful negotiation and adoption in 2023, but significant efforts are still needed to garner widespread support for swift ratification and implementation, particularly from regional groups. 👉 In view of this important next step to ensure the success of the High Seas Treaty, the EU should now champion ratification and start preparing for implementation. 👉 A key first step would be for the European Parliament to approve ratification ahead of the European elections. 👉 The EU and its member states should also prioritise making progress with ratification efforts nationally and leverage the 52 members of the High Ambition Coalition for BBNJ to maintain political momentum and coordinate efforts for early ratification. 👉 To ensure the effective working of the Treaty once it enters into force, the EU should also help build strong institutional foundations, notably through the establishment of a Preparatory Commission. At the #OceanDecadeConference 2024, MedPAN has underlined the key role of the existing regional networks of #MPAs to support the creation and the effective management of #MPAs beyond national juridictions. All the regional seas, all the #LMEs Large Marine Ecosystems are connected ! https://lnkd.in/eDdy-hGF

Good morning from sunny, bright, early Summertime Spring Bahrain. Today is Monday 22 April 2024. What better way than to start with an analysis by Andrei Martyanov. Clearly the USGangsters’ rules based global domination, which includes the IsraeliG, of course, is in desperate death throes. I’m reminded of the image, a man is maniacally stabbing images of his enemies in front of him but he is in reality stabbing and killing himself, which he only realizes after the mania has passed and he lies dying in a pool of his own flesh and blood. It’s too late. It’s over. But we, the ordinary people with universal values, ethics, sense of justice, law, equality & egality, prosperity & peace, cooperation, a committed belief that strong healthy educated citizens through social welfare etc. & efficient infrastructures make a strong country, that good role modeling is more persuasive than physical violence, destruction, death, asset theft and exploitation of others, that profits over people & purpose is as destructive as forever wars. Honor, trustworthiness, integrity, honesty, transparency, commitment are not descriptions or elements of stupidity, naïveté, vulnerability & weakness begging for attack & domination, but the exact opposite. They lie within us and we must project them in our new leadership and social composition. https://lnkd.in/dWaPM-y5

Crime in our once-great country is “out of control!” AND it has been for the past 3-1/2 yrs! Our children are killing other children as well as adults! If you see nothing wrong here - stop reading and move on. If you’re still with me, read on. There are numerous areas in our current political system that are critical in the need of reformation, BUT, enforcing the law is not on their agenda! In my opinion (no longer humble), there are three - 3) areas that properly initiated would provide our young people a direction or path, if you will, to follow from early education thru college, universities and/or other learning institutions! At the present time, this age group are simply “going thru the motions” with no real goal in sight! If you haven’t noticed by now, I am “old school” where we used to say, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Too many great traditions, ie, 1) Family Life - largely demonstrated by the folks at home while gleaning tips from their classes at school. 2) Classes such as Home Economics that consisted of “hands on” cooking skills and Shop Classes that not only taught the difference between a hammer and a wrench and the use of same while participating in the class building projects, but also planted the seed for possibly furthering that knowledge in deciding what field they wish to enter as an adult. Not everyone has the ability nor the interest of being an “IT PERSON.” The 3rd neglected educational area that unfortunately has been all but eliminated from our schools - the lower grades thru all upper level classes is History. Many of our students are ignorant of the most basic facts of American History as well as World History. I certainly am hopeful that these two (2) subjects are currently being reinstituted in our schools across America because: If we do not know where we’ve been, we certainly don’t know where we are going! WE CAN DO BETTER! God Bless America!
SIMPLY THE WAY IT NEEDS TO BE TO SAVE OUR COUNTRY
