🌊 HelioRec Completes Wave Tank Testing of Floating Solar Model! 🌊 France-based start-up HelioRec, in collaboration with Centrale Nantes, has successfully completed wave tank testing of the W200CM floating solar model. 🌞 Details: Prototype: Created in Bretagne at EMP ROTOMOULAGE and assembled by the HelioRec team with assistance from Bassins d’essais de Centrale Nantes. Testing Conditions: Conducted under various wave conditions, reaching up to 1-meter wave height, with multiple induction angles. Wave Monitoring: Eight wave gauges and four mooring load cells integrated for accurate data. Force Measurement: Six load cells placed at strategic points, and Qualisys motion capture cameras tracked the motions of 16 floaters and four footpaths individually. 🚀 Innovative Features: Machine Learning System: Enhances efficiency in power generation operations and maintenance. Hydro-Lock Feature: Provides additional mass and stability, avoiding extra ballasting costs. For me, the exchange on this platform is the core of our mission: networked, informed and future-oriented action in the area of renewable energies and sustainability. The agenda of the specialist lecture covered a wide spectrum – from current market developments to the historical origins of the stock exchange to the mechanisms of order book trading and the trade registration service. These topics not only provide important specialist knowledge, but also open up perspectives for innovative solutions. Our visit to EEX Group gave us deeper insights into the market dynamics and framework conditions that are essential when working with renewable energies. This will help us further expand and optimize the path for wind and solar power. On Monday, CESI proudly hosted the Open Power Grids (OPG) Association event, a key initiative that unites major players in the electrical sector. This gathering provided an important opportunity for industry leaders to address critical issues impacting the future of electric grids. As an active member of OPG, CESI was represented by its CEO, Nicola Melchiotti. The event tackled several key topics, including the complex phenomena behind cable-joint system failures and their impact on underground lines. Another central focus of the day was the energy transition in Europe, where discussions explored both the challenges and synergies needed to drive the shift towards renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure. The agenda featured discussions on building resilient underground lines, followed by a panel of top managers and stakeholders addressing Europe's energy transition. The speakers at this final panel included Nicola Melchiotti, Francesco Gerli, President and CEO Unareti; Giulio Antonio Carone, CEO Areti; Jose Manuel Revuelta Mediavilla, Head of Enel Grids Iberia; José Julio Pérez González, Distribution System Manager UFD. Intersolar 2024 is the world leading fair on all things PV. It features a conference, that started yesterday, and an exhibition from today till Friday. While PV technology has been around for a long time, I am glad to see a focus on the integration of solar power plants- in the environment and as well as in the grid. The rising number of renewables is great, but the growing share of renewables and prosumers leads to volatility of the supply and therefore to the need to balance supply and demand. The system becomes more complex. HDF secures Hy2Move funding for fuel cell development. By Edward Laity HDF Energy will receive up to €172m ($183m) to support the development and industrialisation of hydrogen fuel cells at its plant in Blanquefort, France. The grant was received after the European Commission approved French financial support for the project within the framework of the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI). The approval will be a part of the Commission’s Hy2Move initiative and will ensure HDF can industrialise multi-megawatt fuel cells dedicated to heavy maritime and rail mobility, along with electricity production for public power grids. https://lnkd.in/dSsD94tm
