I am very excited to announce the publication of my research paper in Indian Geotechnical Journal under Springer Nature. Title: Geospatial Analysis and Interpolation of Geotechnical Attributes for Development of Soil Geospatial Maps (SGMs) for Surat City, Gujarat, India This work was carried out with a view to assist practitioner geotechnical engineers with geotechnical investigations. It has been observed that geotechnical investigations are usually overlooked for small infrastructure projects which is not an ideal practice. Me along with my supervisors, Dr. shruti shukla and CHANDRESH SOLANKI made an effort to develop maps which displays the spatial variation of various geotechnical attributes at 3 to 4 meter depth within the Surat City, Gujarat, India. These spatial maps will be helpful to the professionals for small scale projects where the geotechnical investigations are not given much attention. Also, these maps can play a decisive and economic role in planning the further geotechnical investigations for large infrastructure projects. We hope that we were able make some significant contribution with this work in the field of geotechnical engineering. We are thankful to the consultancy partners and our institute SVNIT, Surat, for providing us the necessary resources to carry out this work. The construction of Nakhel Nakhda Port, which was recently completed under the supervision of our company, had been stopped from 2014 to 2023 due to budgetary reasons, as shown in figure 1. The figure 2 shows the bathymetric difference between October 2018 and April 2007. Negative numbers indicate increasing depth (erosion). As we can see, deepened areas have been formed at the ends of the two breakwater heads. Additionally, a region with a large increase in depth has occurred to the east of the constructed structure. These changes are mainly the result of the interaction between the wave and the structure (wave induced currents). The analysis of these events is very interesting in terms of coastal engineering. Figure 3 shows the completed phase one of this project.
