1816 SHADOWS are NEVER ALONE -Gautam Shah https://lnkd.in/d8KEc2sH Shadows are never alone. Illumination is the raison de etre for the shadows. But, real world shadows are rarely dark, as occur with the reflections from the surrounding surfaces. A shadow tempers a space, by masking the details and flattening the colours into greys. Shadows survive best in dull, gloss-less, non-bright realm. Darkness needs to be a place, where shadows are never alone. Screens, sheer curtains, Shoji, (paper panels), kills the shadows, but not the presence of illumination, so that you can be alone without the shadows.

The Coffer Illusion is an optical illusion where people see 16 circles hidden in an image that looks like sunken panels, or coffers, which often decorate ceilings. To see the circles, you can focus on the vertical bars between the rectangles. You can also try looking at the image from a different angle. The Coffer Illusion is a good example of how our brains interpret visual stimuli. Our brains are wired to see objects, and we often group pixels together to form shapes. In the case of the Coffer Illusion, our brains group the pixels together to form squares. However, there are also circles in the image, and if we focus on the vertical bars between the rectangles, we can see them. The Coffer Illusion is a fun and challenging optical illusion that can help us to understand how our brains work. It is also a good reminder that we should not always trust our first impressions.
