After a few stressful days of uncertainty, we can breathe a sigh of relief! The recently advanced spending bill ensures the Hospital at Home waiver and #telehealth services will be extended through March 31st, 2025. This is a critical step forward in bridging the transition period and avoiding interruptions in delivering essential care services. These extensions provide stability for programs that have proven to enhance care delivery and expand access, particularly for vulnerable populations. Be careful what you wish for….lawmakers are playing kick the can. 90 days is all there is, until they pass another stop gap. Would be remarkable if telehealth and HAH payments get ‘permanentized’ on/before March 31. They will likely kick the can again, most likely. And that will make it hard to sustain/enlarge these programs with such ongoing uncertainty. The original package would have continued TH for 2 years (!) and HAH for 5 years! Meanwhile DSH receiving hospitals and ACOs get hurt, not to mention the 2.9 % M’care CUT to physicians. 🤨😠 Let us hope that the right decisions get made soon… Only the #wonks know what horse trades are in store in the 119th. The rest of us are in the cheap seats betting on longshot odds. Not a great way to manage care…

1moNow we need to make telehealth permanent and then that would really be a sigh of relief
