#This work is the responsibility of the kitchen helper # A kitchen helper in a professional restaurant typically cleans stoves by first ensuring they are turned off and cool. They remove grates and burner caps, soak them in a degreasing solution, and scrub away residue. The stovetop is cleaned with a degreaser, and hard-to-reach areas are addressed using brushes or scrapers. After cleaning, they wipe down surfaces with a damp cloth and reassemble the components. Regular maintenance is crucial for a safe and efficient kitchen environment.

Some housekeepers believe that emptying air freshener containers into a room is enough to make the room smell nice. However, they often forget that a clean room requires proper attention to certain items and places, such as curtains with cigarette smoke, duvets with food stains, bed sheets that were not properly dried, pillows that have absorbed too much sweat, leftover food under the bed and on top of shelves, urine stuck in the toilet drainage, used menstrual pads that might be flushed down the toilet, and vomited food that can hang around the wash hand basin. If these places are not properly attended to, the real odour will eventually come out once the air freshener wears off, and the customer will be disappointed. As someone with extensive experience in operation management, I have trained all of my supervisors to ensure that no housekeeper uses air fresheners before inspecting their rooms. Even if you use ten containers of air fresheners, I will still be able to detect the bad odour; however, we have different levels of experience and nature.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following tasks: Disinfects and sanitizes restroom shower walls, sinks, by using bath room caddy machine, door handles, glass, and stainless steel • Trash removal, dust mopping, wet mopping, scrubbing/ stripping/ waxing/ buffing tile floors, vacuuming/shampooing carpets, and performing dusting by removal of dust particles and bugs from light fixtures, ledges, and windows sills • Products must be adequately supplied to client areas • Ability to operate a manual and high speed burnisher, and, floor care machines • Ability to process, count, arrange, and fill unit linen orders • Assures biohazard waste and sharps containers are checked daily and removed when certain criteria are met, following policies and procedures • At the end of each shift, responsible for replenishment of cleaning supplies and products for the next shift • Assures all equipment used is returned to the storage location clean and ready for use Behavioral Action Steps 1. Ensures client and non-client areas are cleaned according to hospital standards 2. Uses universal precaution 3. Uses safe cleaning practices by keeping equipment, supplies, and chemicals in close proximity at all times 4. Properly identifies potential hazard by use of signage (eg: wet floor sign) 5. Exercises chemical safety (eg: proper chemical storage) 6. Has awareness of mold (eg: shower curtains, shower walls) 7.
