Together with fellow student reps, Daulet R., Khalidh Mohamed, Leonardo Faria, Md Taiful Islam, Sarina Saiyed, Tatenda Tatenda, and Thomas Manship, we met today to represent our peers’ voices and bring fresh perspectives to the Student-Staff Liaison Committee (#SSLC). The truth is, while our department is strong, it is not perfect—nor would we want it to be. Perfection suggests an end, and we believe in continuous development. Our role now is to preserve this dialogue, as previous #SSLCs have done, ensuring that the degree we walk away with evolves alongside our ambitions as students. So, I say to my fellow students: this is our moment to make a mark—get involved, speak up, and shape your degree. Updates to follow in the comments.

🌟 MY NEW VENTURE TO SUPPORT HE CAREER PROFESSIONALS!!!!🌟 Have you achieved AdvanceHE recognition for the work you do in your institution? Would you like support to be able to achieve this....?! I have been very lucky with the support I have been given at the University of Chichester in achieving levels of fellowship from Advance HE, but I am aware that some of my colleagues in #university #CareersServices are not always so lucky. So, for a while I have been considering what I can do about this, and I have a plan! As one of a small group of #LearningAndTeaching #mentors for new academics and professional service staff at my university I am proud to be able to guide staff through the postgraduate programme, or to compile a direct submission to get their fellowships, and now I want to start a network and offer my experience to assist #CareersConsultants in any #HigherEducation institution with their applications for AFHEA or FHEA. To start this off, I'd be really grateful if you would post a comment below about your experiences in your institutions about the support offered for you and other #careers staff to obtain recognition for your teaching, and whether having bespoke support to be able to evidence the #ProfessionalStandardsFramework within the careers context would be helpful: - Are you able to join any programmes running at your university? - Do you get support and/or a mentor with any direct submissions? - Would it be helpful to have assistance in orientating the UKPSF/PSF23 to the context that careers staff operate in? - Would you like 1-2-1 support and/or a group of HE careers consultants to help you work towards your level of fellowship? - Is there anything else that you would like to have, or find useful that may help more careers staff feel supported and empowered to obtain recognition for their teaching and teaching support activities? - Is this something you would want....?!! Today I went to a student fair called “Le Grand Salon” and attended a conference focused on the TAGE MAGE, the French equivalent of the GMAT, used for admissions to top tier French business schools. It was an eye-opening experience where I gained valuable advices to tackle this arduous test. I got to understand what examiners truly wish to evaluate through these various logic-oriented assessments. It is not about your academic competency, but rather your ability to grasp the process of a set system and your facility to organize your time efficiently in order to complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner. Those are required skills to enter those prestigious institutions but also to successfully accustom to any future work place. During this conference, hosted by the actual director of the student fair, we got to answer in real-time to test questions which made the whole experience very refreshing and kept us focused all along. As I am currently preparing for the GMAT, this conference was a formidable opportunity to refine my approach and learn valuable tips from an expert. It was a reminder for me of how important it is to seek out new learning opportunities and embrace challenges with enthusiasm ! In afterthought, I feel tremendously grateful to have access to all these educational resources. While we are able to get a guidance for our higher studies, others might not even have access to basic levels of education. Let’s keep in mind that education is truly a powerful weapon and we should aim toward quality education for all.

Today @National Research, Development and Innovation Coordination Summit, I moderated a panel of experts , Prof Bugaje of NBTE, Prof Gaya rep EVC NASENI, Prof Bogoro for ES TETFUND, and ED of Lake Chad Research Institute, 25th March 2024. Going forward, NRDI coordination will require a roadmap, funding mechanism, RDI and Industry Coord, strong M & E and National apprenticeship plan

Say hello to Thale Herbertson – our new Head of School 👋   Thale is half British and brings a wealth of teaching experience from the UK, China, Switzerland, Czech Republic – and Norway. She's now celebrating OIS's outstanding results in the international IB rankings. “The IB programme offers the most stimulating upper secondary education available," Herbertson asserts. “It's academically rigorous and demanding, yet grounded in a holistic philosophy. And our results are consistently exceptional. This year, we had a 97% pass rate and an average mean score of 37 points out of a possible 45.
