Did you know that only 1/4 of Columbus families in need of affordable housing can actually secure it? The recent report by the National Low Income Housing Coalition highlights a staggering shortage of 267,382 rental units in Ohio alone. This crisis hits our city especially hard, leaving countless families like in desperate search of a home. 🏠 Addressing the Housing Crisis: Our Call for Affordable Homes 🏠 Rachel Reeves has announced the new Government's plan to build 1.5 million new homes over the next five years. This is a significant step towards tackling the UK's housing crisis. However, the critical question remains: how many of these homes will be truly affordable or designated as social housing? Recent statistics show that for every new social home built last year, six families were accepted as homeless by local councils. Only 8,386 social homes were built in 2022-23, while 52,800 households became homeless (National Housing Federation) (FCLT). This severe shortage underscores the urgent need for more social and affordable housing. At CEO Sleepout, we believe in the importance of ensuring that new housing projects include a substantial number of affordable homes to provide stability and security for vulnerable families. Let's work together to ensure that every child has a safe, stable place to call home. Join us in calling for meaningful change in housing policies. #HousingCrisis #AffordableHousing #SocialImpact #CEOSleepout

In response to the article about Rep. Kildee's new bipartisan bill, I want to highlight the importance of multifaceted approaches to addressing homelessness. While we recognize that increasing job availability with livable wages and creating more affordable housing are crucial solutions, Kildee's bill serves as another valuable tool in our toolbox. By expanding affordable housing and investing in Michigan communities, this legislation not only helps to create housing but also supports small businesses. These combined efforts can effectively address the root causes of homelessness and foster stronger, more inclusive communities. #AffordableHousing #HomelessnessSolutions #CommunityInvestment #SmallBusinessSupport
