This post by Robert Vis should deserve more attention. I have a deep respect for Robert Vis for what he was able to do with (Message) Bird. Why? Bird is a very interesting, innovative company. Practically a big-tech in Europe, or rather, an attempt. To scale the main obstacle is becoming Europe itself. Europe has a big problem with entrepreneurship, free markets and innovation. Robert is right. The entrepreneur is not seen well in Europe, the efforts in creating a company, which then means creating wealth, are not appreciated. A Europe hostile to innovation and enterprise, but attached to corporations and privileges. A Europe hostile to technology, see AI, a lot of confusion, little knowledge, pride in regulating what it doesn't even know. A Europe with a free market on paper, but in practice controlled and influenced by politics. A Europe that is afraid of change, of losing privileges, is afraid of innovation and closes itself in to defend itself from change. Which is inevitable. A Europe without vision, a slave to politics, in turn a slave to consensus. Robert is right, we need to look elsewhere. United States, Switzerland, Singapore. I would also add UK. Too bad for Germany, it is devastating its potential to become a global player in tech. Incredible opportunity for the United States to attract European talent and companies, make them scale and prosper right up to the gates of Wall Street. Incredible opportunity for Switzerland to be able to create a high-tech ecosystem that can attract European players, given its geography. The Europe that slams the door in the face of entrepreneurs and innovation with pride should not then complain about its own decline. #Europe #Innovation #Startup
Ik vertrek! 🌍✈️ Waarom ik vertrek uit Nederland: "Je moet schieten, anders kun je niet scoren." - Johan Cruijff Mijn stad Amsterdam, waar ik geboren ben en waar ik nu vertrek. Ons land staat wereldwijd bekend om innovatie en ondernemerschap, toch is in mijn optiek de waarheid anders. De waarheid is dat hoge bomen “te” veel wind vangen, ondernemerschap wordt niet beloond en veel schieten of proberen dingen te veranderen wekt een aversie op. En ik ben er klaar mee. Enkele voorbeelden waar ik tegenaan liep: Mentaliteit: Succesvolle ondernemers worden vaak met argwaan bekeken, in plaats van als inspiratiebron voor anderen. Politiek: Need I say more? Geert Wilders en Baudet - really? Is dit het land van 16 miljoen mensen waar vrijheid en inclusiviteit altijd vooraan heeft gestaan? Bureaucratie: Het doolhof van regels en voorschriften maakt het lastig om snel en efficiënt te innoveren. Belastingsdruk: Ikzelf heb nul problemen met veel belasting betalen, maar mijn werknemers kan ik gewoon niet belonen op een manier die voordelig is. Veiligheid: Je kan het nieuws niet kijken zonder te realiseren hoeveel geweld er is. Met succes komt de realisatie van je persoonlijke veiligheid. Gekscherend, het weer is natuurlijk ook volkomen klote 😅☔ De wereld is groot en vol kansen, en ik ben vastbesloten om die te grijpen. Ik kijk ernaar uit om mijn horizon te verbreden, nieuwe uitdagingen aan te gaan en mijn ideeën te realiseren in een omgeving die innovatie en ondernemerschap omarmt. Landen zoals Zwitserland, de Verenigde Staten en Singapore bieden bijvoorbeeld een veel gunstiger klimaat voor ondernemers met een vooruitstrevende visie. Met pijn in mijn hart vertrek ik misschien voor altijd, misschien voor nu. Ik heb het gevoel dat ik niet de enige ga zijn 😉 Constantijn Van Oranje-Nassau, ik kan niet anders dan bewondering hebben voor wat je voor ons land doet en zeker in onze techindustrie. Vooruitstrevend, als ondernemer vanuit jouw positie daadwerkelijk impact hebben is iets waar we heel trots op zijn. Elk nadeel hep z’n voordeel. Quote, mag ik nu eindelijk uit jullie lijstjes? 😊 Gesloten hoofdstuk, nieuw begin: LFG ! 🚀
