Working with a mentor supplied by SAMPE Europe, show how you would improve the component’s present sustainability by proposing a route to reduce its environmental impact. Sustainability improvements can be in any area, and examples could include areas of reducing waste or embodied energy; improving design for disassembly; light weighting; reducing operations and maintenance; or extending the service life. Entries will consist of a 2-minute video outlining your proposal. In the first round the best teams will be selected to go forward to a LIVE FINAL. In this second round selected teams will be offered an impartial, industrial mentor to help prepare their presentation for the final event. The 57th CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems (CMS 2024) in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal gathered over 300 international researchers from academia and industry. They discussed cutting-edge research in manufacturing systems. It was a valuable opportunity for me and my students Obada Alshamaa and Kotayba Al Rashwany to participate in this interesting international Event. We had the privilege of presenting two papers at the conference. The first showcased our rational action developed modeling approach for robot trajectories to enhance the human predictability. The second explored the intriguing relationship between a robot's level of adaptive behavior and a human's ability to predict its actions accurately - an increasingly important factor as human-robot collaboration becomes more prevalent in manufacturing environments.
