In the aerospace industry, spline gauges are crucial for ensuring the precise fit and function of splined components, which are often used in critical applications such as aircraft propulsion systems and control mechanisms. These gauges are employed to measure the exact dimensions and profiles of splines—the ridged, interlocking parts of shafts and gears. By verifying that the splines adhere to strict tolerances, spline gauges help maintain the integrity of the mechanical connection, ensuring smooth power transmission and reliable performance under the high stresses encountered in aerospace environments. This meticulous quality control is essential for both safety and efficiency, as even minor deviations can lead to performance issues or potential failures in aerospace systems. #westernpegasus #splines #aerospace #automotive #helical #sector #composite

Pitting corrosion is a localized form of corrosion that creates small, deep holes in metal surfaces, often going unnoticed until significant damage has occurred. In aircraft, this type of corrosion can weaken critical structural components, such as the airframe and engine parts, posing potential safety risks if not identified and addressed promptly. Laser cleaning helps mitigate pitting corrosion by removing contaminants and oxidation from metal surfaces, thereby restoring the underlying substrate. While using the torque + angle method for tightening bolts is standard use in aerospace engine applications, we're only just starting to see customers begin to leverage the torque + angle technology of our tools on helicopter airframe applications. From a number's perspective, today 100% of our customers with aerospace engine applications are using their AeroTorque Digital Torque Multiplier to measure torque + angle, but less than 1% of our customers with helicopter airframe applications are. Do you think torque + angle measurement on helicopter airframe applications will increase in the future? Take our poll: https://hubs.li/Q02CQmNj0

Flexing of wing and engine under turbulence! During turbulence, both wings and engines can flex to some extent. Modern aircraft wings are designed to flex to a certain degree under various conditions, including turbulence. This flexing is intentional and allows the wings to absorb some of the forces generated by turbulence, providing a smoother ride for passengers. The amount of flex varies depending on the aircraft type and the severity of the turbulence. Engine mounts are designed to absorb vibrations and flex slightly to accommodate changes in aircraft attitude and airflow, including during turbulence.
