In 2015, it was discovered that oil companies had been injecting their toxic oilfield wastewater into drinking water aquifers in California. Hopefully this is no longer happening, but the oil companies need to dispose of their wastewater somewhere. So in addition to injecting it underground where it could contaminate groundwater the oil companies are also selling their oilfield wastewater to the California farmers to grow our food (because the farmers don’t get first dibs on the good drinking water). This has been happening since the late 1990s and the dirty practice of selling oilfield wastewater to the farmers for agriculture is expanding in California in 2024. I wrote a book about it and a feature screenplay. It’s called Fresh from Farmers Valley. Who wants to see this movie in the theaters? I know I do! * The California EPA is somewhat separate from the EPA in Washington, D.C. and it is allowed to have “primacy” jurisdiction over California. The following article is about injection of oilfield wastewater in Wyoming in 2024… “Feds reject plan to pump Moneta oilfield waste into potential drinking water”

We are thrilled to share the exciting news about the recent passage of the WIPPES Act, a significant legislative step forward in addressing the challenges posed by "wipe" products in our nation’s wastewater systems. The WIPPES Act, strongly supported by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), aims to standardize the labeling of wipe products to ensure they are appropriately marked as "Do Not Flush" when not designed to be flushed. This is a crucial development in preventing clogs and operational issues in wastewater treatment facilities. At WSG & Solutions, we understand the complexities and challenges that non-flushable wipes pose to wastewater infrastructure. Our advanced screening solutions are specifically designed to protect wastewater systems from such disruptions. Our screens efficiently capture and remove troublesome materials before they can impact the treatment process, ensuring smoother operations and reducing maintenance costs. This legislative advancement aligns with our commitment to enhancing wastewater treatment operations and supporting the sustainability of municipal and industrial facilities. As the industry moves forward with this new regulation, WSG & Solutions stands ready to assist facilities in adapting to these changes with our state-of-the-art screening technology. We look forward to continuing our work with industry partners and stakeholders to implement effective solutions that align with legislative developments like the WIPPES Act.
