Bimetal steam traps on drip scan lead to serious issues downstream if the drip pocket is not long enough. People need to be careful trying to mitigate flash steam downstream of a steam trap to "save energy" only to cause waterhammer in the steam distribution pipe and premature failure expensive flow meters, pressure reducing and control valves.
