I had the oppurtunity to appear on the Antigua and Barbuda Observer AM show, with Dr. Jacquie Quinn-Leandro, former member of parlaiment and the first female to be elected to the lower house in Antigua and Barbuda. Fittingly, one of the focal points of our discussion centred on women's political participation nationally, and understanding the structural and systemic gaps that are perpetuating and fueling the exclusion of women from politics. The Directorate will be hosting an event under or Emerging Female Leaders Program, entitled "Picture her power: A brunch with trailblazing women", next month which will feature women who have been and are currently in politics and leadership. The hope is that events such as this will catalyze a rise in interest and opportunities for more women to enter politics, and will transform mindsets that seek to prevent or marginalize women, who are capable and ready to serve and make a difference. Women comprise half of our population, and if we refuse to allow them the opportunity to participate meaningfully, as it relates to politics, we are missing out on an abundance of capacity, innovation, and talent. We all have a part to play in changing this reality!

We will present our findings on the effects of gender, appearance, fashion, etc. on one’s political credibility and power, on Wednesday, July 10th, on the panel Women as Contested Leaders: Leadership and Gender in Politics at the European Conference on Politics and Gender (ECPG). Our article "By the Looks of Her She is not Credible: Sanna Marin and Fashion’s Influence on Credibility" will be available to read in the fall of 2024. Our case study has various dimensions of credibility, legitimacy, power relations, and communication in the fields of politics, security, information warfare, and hybrid operations, just to name a few. My multidisciplinary research continues, and I’m open to cooperation in these sectors and more. https://lnkd.in/d9xf2CuS #ECPG2024

🔔 Women's Voice at the Decision Table - under this motto, as Strong Women in IT, together with GESSEL Attorneys at law, we organized an event at the British Embassy Warsaw. 🔥🔥 💡 The event focused on how to give women an equal voice in decision-making and what leaders can do to make a difference. During discussions with invited leaders from our community, we learned about private experiences and discussed their stories and lessons learned from the inclusive journey they wanted to share. I encourage you to watch a short video summary of the event. 👉Why is it so important to engage in such discussions in public space? 👉How does the exchange of experiences among leaders shape reality? The above questions were answered in our material by Dorota Zaremba, Laura Matthews, Monika Kordowska, Malgorzata Gryz, and Dariusz Piotrowski. 🌟Thank you for sharing your point of view with us. Witold Nogieć, thank you very much for creating this video for us. 👏 🔔PS. If you want to stay up to date with our activities, please follow the Strong Women in IT profile! #SWIT #StrongWomeninIT #InclusiveLeadership #Empowerment #StrongWomen #DiversityandInclusion #StrongerTogether #community

Someday, we will tell stories of how lack of financial muscle, expected regional political party alignment and marital status are challenges young women experience in the pursuit of political leadership(me included). We will talk about how young women are underrepresented in elective political leadership plus the violence women go through hinders them from mentoring younger women. We will also talk about how those who benefit from the status quo block younger women from attaining power and the emotional pain women endure from inadequate support and opposition from fellow women, which is often perceived as entitlement. We will talk about feminine versus feminist leadership and how women are expected to be in one box when the same standards are not set for the men. We will talk about how once you obtain this, there is more expected from you. Even though the game was long rigged and the odds seem to be against us, we will still go for it ! We will wake up and say,‘Enough is enough, power is not often given and at times, it has to be taken. ‘ We stay positive as young women and continue fighting the good fight. But One day……. When you start each day is your first thought about your goals and expectations for before those of others? In that same moment are you taking action based on truth and the facts you know to be accurate? During this the month of March are you aware of how you value women who influence your life? Are you taking responsibility in your community and voting for local and national leaders that take action on issues and decisions that represent your truth? Consider addressing change during the month of March that represent truth you believe in based on facts that validate your truth, and support the women you respect and value.

How can we explain the rise of #women #political leaders in recent decades? Mayra Buvinic, Kehinde Ajayi, and Astha Mainali contrast conditions enabling women's leadership in #LatinAmerica and the #Caribbean—a region ahead of most in women’s political presence—with conditions in sub-Saharan Africa, which remains some steps behind. ⬇ https://bit.ly/3SItTpD
