Did you know 193 countries agreed on a common set of sustainability goals in 2015? With only 17% of them on track to be achieved by their 2030 target business leaders came together this week at the UN Global Compact Network UK Summit to discuss how we can shape up and speed up. Great for Burges Salmon LLP to be part of the conversation and the collective effort. #ESG #responsiblebusiness #sdgs #collaboration

🌍 Happy launch day, Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). The 'Green Deal and Beyond: A Business Agenda for a Sustainable, Competitive and Resilient Europe' is out now with lots of concrete input for the next political mandate. 🗣️💡 Here are some key takeaways from this morning's launch event in Brussels: 📌There is no way back from the Green Deal but need to get the narrative right. 📌Need to put people first: More Europeans must feel the benefits of the green transition. Need to find better ways to measure wellbeing. 📌A big focus now must be on implementation but also setting the long-term future direction to stay the course. 📌Bring nature as part of solution. 📌Importance of understanding our blind spots and what's hindering further progress. Check out the below picture for some inspiration on the narrative 💡 🏢 As a member of the Corporate Leaders Groups, we VELUX remain committed to advocating for sustainable policies, which make Europe more resilient and competitive. Lots of work ahead 💪 🔗 The link to the full report in comments #BusinessAgenda24 #GreenDealAndBeyond #AgendaForChange

Last week we launched Nature for Boards: A primer, created in collaboration with Pollination and Korn Ferry. The report details the critical role #NonExecutiveDirectors and #Boards have in managing and mitigating nature-related risks and seizing opportunities for #NaturePositive approaches to drive value. It also provides a comprehensive view of what future-facing leadership from the boardroom on #Nature could look like and more. As James Cameron says in the report, “a board should know the impact of its decision making on nature and the natural environment. For some companies it ought to be obvious before it is mandatory. ... Step one is to take the issue seriously and get informed.” If you haven't read the primer yet, you can view some of the key takeaways below and can download the full report at: https://lnkd.in/etTDPBvk Huge thanks again to the report’s author Thea Philip, and all the contributors and teams at Pollination, Chapter Zero and Korn Ferry that worked on and supported this piece: Annick G. Paradis, Mark Lancelott, Sarah Barker, Jane "Carter" Ingram, Phoebe Roberts, Suzanne Blake, Vicky Moffatt, Jo D., Madeleine Bertie, Joanne Murray, Sashawne Smith, and our grateful thanks to our Chapter Zero Fellow who kindly reviewed this piece for us Zoe Howorth. #Nature #NaturePositive #NaturalCapital #NEDs #Boards #NonExecutiveDirectors #CorporateGovernance #Leadership #Governance #ClimateAction #COP16 #COP29
