This is an interesting read about how #Europe is addressing #pollutants in waterways with an update to its urban #wastewater treatment directive. One aspect of note is a provision on "Extended Producer Responsibility," which is similar to the "polluter pays" language we hear in the U.S. What do you think the U.S. could learn from this directive? Is a similar approach possible for addressing #PFAS in America given that Europe's approach for EPR seems to fit with industry leader's thoughts on the CERCLA and RCRA proposals? https://lnkd.in/e9hEvV3E

A major focus of Meteor Communication's fully integrated Water Quality as a Service (WQaaS™) solution is the production of high-quality, reliable continuous monitoring data and its interpretation. A good starting point for anybody looking for a solution for the Environment Act 2021, section 82 should be data with interpretations, and lots of them. Meteor will be producing more quality case studies over the coming months to highlight the many important monitoring projects where WQaaS™ is deployed. #remotemonitoring #waterqualitymonitoring #getitright

The adoption of the updated urban wastewater treatment directive marks a momentous shift in Europe’s push for energy neutrality and pollution control in the water sector. The implications are wide ranging, for most municipalities in the EU, and investments to comply will trigger innovation, create jobs, and improve local environments. Amid plenty of worrying developments of accelerating climate change and slow political momentum to tackle it, this new piece of legislation is a freshening reason to celebrate!
🚨The Council of the European Union has now adopted the revised Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive - a move that will greatly impact the environment and public health in the region. Member states must take stock of the following changes, which will be translated into local legislation in the coming years. To learn more about this, including what exemptions apply, read the official press release by the Council in the comments 👇 #UWWTD #EU #Europe #WastewaterTreatment #EnergyNeutrality
