Did you know the world produces 430 million tonnes of plastic annually, with two-thirds used only briefly? Packaging alone accounts for 36% of this. Shockingly, 46% of plastic waste ends up in landfills, 22% becomes litter, 17% is incinerated, and just 15% is collected for recycling—with less than 9% effectively recycled. At Aquavita, we’re tackling this issue head-on with our bottle-less drinking water solutions, reducing plastic waste one dispenser at a time. Together, we can make a difference. How are you reducing plastic waste in your daily life? #Sustainability #GoBottleless #ClimateAction #Singleuseplastics

More than 12 million tons of plastic waste end up in our oceans every year. What if we could not only recycle the existing waste, but also prevent new plastic waste from ending up in our natural environment? This is the aim of RECO Recycling Tapes - we use precisely this plastic waste and produce the first high-quality recycled parcel tape in the world with a PCR recycled content of over 90% (!). This means that from now on it is no longer necessary to use single use adhesive tapes produced from fossil raw materials! In addition, we want to give plastic waste a monetary value through high-quality recycled parcel tapes - only then will it no longer be seen as a problem but as a valuable resource. Switch to the first environmentally friendly adhesive tape alternative with your company today and help us achieve the urgently needed turnaround. #sustainability #recycling #tape #RECO www.recotape.com Contact: sales@recotape.com

Today’s #ChartOfTheDay shows the levels of annual plastic waste by disposal method from 2000 to 2019. Each year, around 400 million metric tonnes of plastic waste are produced across the globe, but less than 10% of total plastic waste has been recycled. The Alliance to End Plastic Waste has made strides towards advancing a circular economy for plastics. Documented in their latest Progress Report 2023 - Advancing Circularity: Solutions for Change - are collective results that the Alliance have been able to drive.. Much has been achieved since 2019, including: 🔻 118,580 tonnes of unmanaged plastic waste reduced ♻ 128,240 tonnes of value from unmanaged plastic waste captured primarily through recycling 💵 US$271m of funding has been allocated towards mission-related activities These numbers are only part of the story. Here at Mitsui Chemicals Group, we share the Alliance's vision, and works are ongoing to effect systems change and create a circular economy for plastics. Earlier this year, we started using pyrolysis oil from plastic waste at our Osaka Works. We also carries Re'PRM™ series of solutions, a brand name of our post-consumer recycled (PCR) products with impeccable characteristics. Metrics presented without context once again. 118,580 tonnes of plastic waste reduction since 2019 is somewhat less impressive when placed next to the roughly 1.7 billion tonnes of waste produced in the same period by an industry that is constantly ramping up production of virgin plastics.

Plastic bricks, made from recycled plastic waste, offer a sustainable alternative to traditional building materials. Here are some uses of plastic bricks: 1. Walls and partitions-Plastic bricks are ideal for building walls, partitions, and fences due to their durability and resistance to weathering. 2. Road construction: Plastic bricks can be used to build roads, reducing the amount of asphalt and other materials needed. 3. Bridges- Plastic bricks can be used to build bridges, providing a durable and low-maintenance alternative to traditional materials. 4. Pavements-Plastic bricks can be used to build pavements, walkways, and cycle paths. 5. Planters- Plastic bricks can be used to create planters for plants and flowers, providing a durable and low-maintenance alternative to traditional planters. 6.Outdoor furniture-Plastic bricks can be used to create outdoor furniture, such as benches and tables. 7. Flood control- Plastic bricks can be used to build flood-control structures, such as levees and seawalls. 8. Erosion control-Plastic bricks can be used to prevent soil erosion, particularly in areas prone to landslides. #Recycled #sustainabledevelopment
𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐜𝐨-𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬 🧱♻️ As our world grapples with the mounting plastic waste crisis, recycling has emerged as a vital solution. Each year, millions of tons of plastic end up in landfills and oceans, posing significant threats to wildlife and ecosystems. However, through effective recycling practices, we can transform this waste into valuable resources. Plastic recycling involves collecting, sorting, and processing used plastics to create new products. This not only reduces the need for virgin materials but also conserves energy and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. For instance, recycling just one ton of plastic can save up to 1,000-2,000 gallons of gasoline! Beyond environmental benefits, waste plastic recycling opens up economic opportunities. It fosters job creation in recycling facilities and encourages innovation in sustainable materials. Companies embracing recycled plastics are also finding a competitive edge, as consumers increasingly prioritize eco-friendly products. #PlasticRecycling #RecyclePlastic #PlasticWaste #CircularEconomy #ZeroWaste #SustainableLiving #EcoFriendly

In recognition of Earth Day, we would like to remind you how Dura-Fibre is working to drive sustainability and reduce waste. Containers and packaging make up the largest category of landfilled plastic. In fact, just 13% of plastic containers and packaging are recycled, contributing to 10 million tons of annual landfill waste. Worst of all, plastic waste can take hundreds of years to biodegrade. And that’s when it’s properly managed. When mismanaged, plastic waste can end up in our waterways and oceans where it harms marine life. Dura-Fibre is committed to providing responsible packaging by: - Using recycled materials to produce our paperboard, based on customer preferences and specifications. - Utilizing responsible processes and materials in our paperboard packaging. - Recycling our manufacturing waste. - Producing a product that’s 100% recyclable. #sustainability #earthday #packaging #paperboard #recyclable

Did you know that soft flexible plastics make up a staggering 32.7% of all plastic packaging in Australia? That's a huge chunk of our waste! Surprisingly, despite their prevalence, only 10.7% of these plastics are being recovered. It's time to change that statistic. Join the movement to increase recycling rates and reduce plastic pollution. Together, we can make a significant impact on the environment. Take action now and recycle your soft plastics! ♻️ #PlasticPollution #RecycleAustralia #EnvironmentalImpact #ReducePlasticWaste #Sustainability #RecyclingGoals #GoGreen #SaveThePlanet

POV: You want to reduce single-use plastic waste, but the trickle-down-plastic system won't let you! According to UN Environment Programme, "Humanity produces more than 430 million tonnes of plastic annually, two-thirds of which are short-lived products that soon become waste, filling the ocean and, often, working their way into the human food chain." At this rate, without changes, we could live in a reality where more plastic is in the ocean than fish. That's one sushi special we want to avoid! But whose responsibility is it to reduce plastic waste? Individuals or Corporations? Who bears the weight of the trashed plastics trashing our health? 🔎 https://lnkd.in/esqKJxh2 #PlasticFreeJuly #SingleUsePlastic #ReducePlasticWaste
