The Union of Arab Chambers has appointed Hassan bin Moejeb Al-Huwaizi, President of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, as its first Vice President, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency. This appointment was announced during the UAC’s 135th session held in Doha. Alongside his new position, Al-Huwaizi also serves as Vice President of the Federation of GCC Chambers and is the president of the Abha Chamber. He expressed gratitude to the Union for their confidence in his abilities and highlighted the importance of boosting intra-Arab trade. Currently, intra-Arab trade makes up only 13.8% of the total foreign trade among Arab countries. Al-Huwaizi described this percentage as modest compared to other regional economic blocs and stressed the need for improvement. He called for enhanced efforts to eliminate regulatory, customs, and procedural barriers that hinder trade among Arab nations. By addressing these obstacles, Al-Huwaizi believes that intra-Arab trade can be significantly increased.
